It only got the stars for the quality of the food. Only our waitress was nice. She was amazing. The people behind the deli counter looked like they didnt care when you walked in. The lady that took our money at the register wasnt friendly. And they ripped us off too. Me and my father ordered a meal each and got one to go for my stepmother. Our meals came with a sandwich and two sides. The bill was almost ten bucks more than it should have been because for the to go order, instead of including the two sides with the sandwich as ours did, they charged us for each side individually. And when she told us the total, my dad said "...how much?" And we just looked at each other trying to figure it out. And rather than say anything, the cashier just looked around and didnt care. Didnt ask if there was an issue or anything. Just sat there like an old lady at a salon when they're under that hair dryer and reading a magazine. And don't even get me started on that b.s. policy of cash only! I'm pretty old school and was raised out in the country, but even I know that most people use debit cards for almost everything. It's not quaint or charming or old fashioned, it's stupid. It makes me wonder about taxes and paying people under the table and other shady goings on. And I'm sure they're totally legit and I'm an idiot for wondering that but I dont care. The food itself is great, but it's not worth the rudeness or being ripped off. I can't cook Italian well or make great barbecue or fry decent chicken, but I can make my own sandwich. My dad always supports Jewish businesses, but even he said he'll never go back. That's all you...
Read moreOkay because I'm an interior decorator, I would have liked a little bit more vintage ambiance in this place. Just a little facelift if you would w/primitive kitchen items like grandma use to use, but w/that being said let me tell you that the people who work here take great pride in their work & care very much about the quality of the food & the cleanliness of the shop. Food presentation was not only amazing but so fresh & delicious. They go the extra mile to cook for you the way your very own mother would with the best ingredients & a lot of love & attention. We never ever finish our food & we cleaned our plates & we polished off three desserts. The pie crust was absolutely amazing. That is the key to every good pie. Anyone can mix something up on the top of the stove & pour it in a crappy crust but this crust was so flavorful & fresh The perfect texture & consistency. The cappuccino ice cream pie tasted as if they brewed the coffee themselves crushed the coffee beans for the crust by hand & married it all together for the most decadent experience to delight your palate. The strawberry pie was as if the strawberries were hand-picked this morning from the garden out back at the peak of ripeness & mixed with fresh cream drawn from the cows at the crack of dawn then topped with homemade cookie crumble. Oh my goodness what a fantastic experience. If they were closer to Keller we would eat there at least twice a week. But without a doubt when people are in town visiting this has to be one of your stops to let them know you are so glad they are here by sharing with them the great food & hospitality of...
Read moreIf you’re from the northeast, like me, you would never have been impressed. But for 25 years I would come here occasionally for your very average Texas interpretation of a Jewish, NY style deli. The pastrami on rye - my favorite deli sandwich - wasn’t terrible. It was… average.
We were in the area (late August, 2025) and decided to drop in. It had been a few (5?) years, but boy, has this place declined!! I ordered matzo soup, a pastrami on rye, and a side of artichoke salad - how hard is that!
The matzo soup tasted and looked like Lipton’s soup, but without the dried parsley flakes. The chicken, if that’s what it was, was finely chopped, unusually brown, and sitting in a wad on top of the soup. The matzo balls were just okay.
The somewhat dried out and wrinkled pastrami wasn’t even warm in the middle, and was served on not-too-fresh rye/pumpernickel swirl bread. Shameful!
Finally, we come to the artichoke salad. It was never great, but this time it had an unusual flavor to it. I couldn’t decide if it was spoiled or not, and foolishly ate it. Big mistake! Spent most of the night and some hours the next sitting morning on the bathroom throne. Luckily, the other members of our party didn’t eat any of that. BTW, their sandwiches weren’t so good, either. At least they didn’t get sick!
Food: 1/2 star. Service: The server was excellent, 5 stars. Atmosphere: Badly in need of a refresh, but reasonably clean. 2 stars....
