Let me spill the beans on my visit to Chicken Express. It's a chain similar to Hartz chicken in Houston, but man, did it miss the mark on several fronts. Here's the lowdown on my experience:
First things first, the service at Chicken Express was painfully slow. Whether I was inside the restaurant or waiting in the drive-thru line, time seemed to crawl at a snail's pace. It's frustrating when you're craving a quick and satisfying meal, only to be left tapping your fingers in impatience.
And let's talk about that drive-thru, shall we? It was no better than the sluggish service inside. The whole experience felt like a never-ending odyssey, as I watched cars inch forward at a glacial pace. Chicken Express could really benefit from revving up their operations and zipping through those orders more efficiently.
Now, on to the financial shocker. Prices have taken an unexpected hike, leaving me scratching my head. It's disheartening when you find yourself paying more without experiencing any noticeable improvement in quality or dining ambiance. It's like getting an unwelcome surprise at the cash register.
Now, let's talk food, or in this case, letdowns. The fried okra, a beloved side dish, was tragically burnt. It's disheartening when something as simple as okra ends up overcooked and unappetizing. A real letdown for fried food enthusiasts.
On top of that, even ordering just sides seemed to drag on for an eternity. I anticipated a quick and painless process, but it turned into a laborious affair. For such straightforward requests, Chicken Express needs to up their game and streamline their ordering system.
And last but not least, let's address the coleslaw. Brace yourself, because this one is a doozy. The coleslaw had an overwhelmingly sweet taste that left me recoiling in disgust. While personal preferences may vary, this particular version missed the mark for me, and the excessive sweetness was anything but appealing.
My visit to Chicken Express left me wanting more. The excruciatingly slow service, tortoise-paced drive-thru, price increases, burnt fried okra, and overly sweet coleslaw combined to create a lackluster dining experience. It's time for Chicken Express to step on the gas, focus on quality, and regain the flavorful appeal...
Read moreThere are to many signs all over this restaurant. They (especially the handwritten or not proof-read ones) portray unprofessional or less professional business practices. One sign here documents age discrimination- you can't buy a water or tea for $ .92 if you're a child or a teen (that leaves only Jesus eligible). They are only permitted to buy soft drinks (way more expensive). I'm guessing the reason is some children or teens pay for water or tea-and refill with soft drinks, so a sign or an employee tactfully addressing that issue would be less stupid (or a different cup for water or tea?) You must purchase an item to stay in the lobby, or something to that effect blocks the view through the front door (bummer). There are no lowering or no trespassing signs available that don't look like construction paper... They appear normal looking outside most businesses. On the way out, that sign looks dumb. You can read it backwards if you like (during the day). Waiting on fish to a while, so I went inside to order. There are multiple signs telling you how much extra sauces are. But since I still didn't get a chance to read all of the depressing signs (not that I cannot read all), I'll move on to the rest of my visit. Middle of the afternoon and chairs on tables like it's closing time does not look inviting. The floor was swept and all tables were cleaned though. The chicken strips were not very fresh- a bit chewy... And they were small... The cashier answered my questions wrong, but I figured it out on my own. No napkins within reach and none in the bag. So I asked for napkins and received a few. Good luck completing right there on Alamesa- I'll bet Sundays numbers are great! Where I like to go would have been cheaper, more strips and would've cost less, and are always so good...
Read moreOrdered in drive thru and when I got to the window cashier was really nasty acting. Didn’t think much of it at first but then she requested I pull forward and said it was because they were making fish fresh for me and that sounded reasonable. I pulled forward and she continued to give me a dismissive attitude but I just brushed it off. Went inside to use the RR and walked up to the counter to see how long it might be for food and to my surprise fish was already ready two minutes later. Fish eaters know it takes at least 6 minutes for fish to cook in deep fryer if you’ve ever worked at a fast food place like chicken express. So I said to the dine-in cashier I already ordered my food and it looks ready now but the drive thru cashier was there also and looked mad I was inside. I told the supervisor who claimed his name was Josh but wouldn’t give me his last name that the drive thru cashier told me to pull up because my food was being prepared fresh and he said it had just come up. I tried to let him know that the cashier was pretty nasty acting to me and he got an attitude with me saying that I can take my food and get out of his store as he put his fist on his hip and used his other hand to point me out the door. If you are black I recommend you don’t go there because had I not seen them put my food together and if I didn’t wait to make my complaint after getting food no telling what would have been put into my food....
