Let me start by saying...my family and I love Delucca Pizza. We've been eating at the Southlake location for years and just last year ate at the Fort Worth location. Their pizza has always been delicious and service has always been great. We were so excited when we found out they were opening a location in Alliance. It was going to be so much closer and we couldn't wait until they opened. Unfortunately, we've been twice since they opened and both visits were disappointing, to say the least.
First Visit: While we usually love the meatballs, they were undercooked and pink inside on our first visit to the Alliance location. We informed the waiter and they responded that it was most likely due to "too much pink Himalayan sea salt". We didn't think that was the case, however, we ordered another batch, and same thing. We decided it could be just an off night for the meatballs and decided to move on to the pizza. Typically, at the Southlake location the pizza is cooked perfectly. To be fair, we don't enjoy all of their pizza flavors, but the ones we like are always delicious. However, at the Alliance location we noticed the pizza was very soggy in the middle and the crust was just a little thicker than the Southlake location. The taste was fairly consistent but for some reason the pizza just seemed off. All in all we decided to cut them some slack since it was so soon after they opened. We figured we'd give them a few more weeks to work the kinks out.
Second Visit: We decided to stop in on a random night this past week to see if things had improved. The meatballs were definitely improved. They were fully cooked inside and were delicious as usual. The pizza not so much. Still soggy in the middle to the point where the waiter almost needed a spoon to scoop it off the pizza tray. This time around we were seated by a large party as well and we noticed that it took longer than usual to get any of the pizza we requested. It seemed like most of the waiters main concern was to make sure this large party had every flavor of pizza they requested without stopping to offer any to tables surrounding them. It got to the point where I had to stop each waiter before they passed our table to ensure that we didn't have to wait 15 minutes in between pizza servings. I would add that while the waiters and staff at the new location are friendly enough, most of them are younger and less experienced than the Southlake location and it definitely shows. The staff seem a little less organized and it takes a little longer to be seated although the restaurant hasn't been that busy on either of our two locations. At Southlake, the hostess and managers are very professional and you can tell they take pride in their jobs and making sure people have a pleasant experience. The Alliance crew seem very "new" and again, they are mostly nice, but the service just isn't up to the same standard as Southlake.
Bottom Line: If you have never tried Delucca pizza before and Alliance is your first experience then you probably won't notice any difference. I'd say if you get a chance you should try the Southlake location first so you have a better baseline of what the pizza should taste like and what the quality of service should be.
We recently discovered that all locations have the same owner and we notified the Manager at the Southlake location about the huge difference between the Alliance and Southlake locations. He ensured that he would pass the information up the chain to the owners and see if they can work with the staff at Alliance to ensure that the food and service are consistent with Southlake (the original location). As a family we've decided to continue to eat at the Southlake location to give Alliance some...
Read moreThis was a horrible experience and it is obvious it’s because of bad management. There is no way any of these 5 star reviews are from customers. As soon as we walked in there were 3 employees standing at the bar ignoring my wife and I. We had no idea what we were supposed to do. I tried to ask the 3 employees (bartender, my waiter, and I think the other waiter) if we should seat ourselves they all looked our way and continued their conversation like we weren’t even there. When we did finally sit down it took 10 minutes to be able to order a drink. And then it took 20 minutes for it to come out. I know what you’re thinking maybe it was super busy. It was not it was a Wednesday night with half the restaurant empty. The waiter just forgot to put in our drink order. And instead of apologizing for the wait or coming over to explain the situation he brought us our drinks like it’s normal to wait 20 minutes in a dead restaurant for $14 drink. I know he forgot to put in the drink order because I could see the manager trying to flirt with the bartender the entire time we were waiting. We were sitting at the table closest to the bar. It took about 30 minutes before they started coming by with pizza. I think they were serving desert pizza to the tables around us so they kept skipping us when the pizza servers would come over. Honestly not a big deal but you would think the waiter would come and say something. When the pizza finally came it was completely under whelming. The meat on anything that wasn’t pepperoni tasted like spoiled meat. They served one pizza that I had to literally fight the urge to throw up. It was like canned chicken with some cheese it was the worst thing I have ever had at a restaurant. The drink I ordered came with paper in it. The name of the drink was paper plane so it could have been a fun drink if everything else wasn’t so bad. The only bright spot was a young man the was a pizza servers he came through positive and informative. My actually server was bad but it was obvious he wasn’t trained so maybe not his fault completely. One young lady that was a pizza server would serve us a slice and then go directly infront of me to the host stand squat down and drink her drink over the pizza. Honestly not horrible but she should be taught that holding the pizza your serving that close to the floor and drinking over it kn eye view is not acceptable. And our serve seemed like we were interrupting his night. All around bad experience and it just seems like it is bad management and...
Read moreLoved the look of the restaurant. Very surprised with how they were able to completely redesign the space that used to be a fast casual restaurant.
I tried 2 pizzas that I loved, pepperoni and truffle and cheese. Usually not a fan of truffle so this was a pleasant surprise. The green salad, meatballs and lobster bisque were all very tasty and came with the all you can eat price. They do not provide spoons for the lobster bisque. When I asked for a spoon, the waitress Emma stated the spoons are almost as big as the cups the bisque was served in. They were big but still small enough to use. I don’t like the feeling of drinking lobster bisque out of a cup. There were no discernible pieces of lobster in the bisque but still tasty.
The host was very friendly, the staff that brought the pizzas were very prompt and knowledgeable about the variety of pizzas. Our server,Emma was nice but not very attentive. I asked for the previously mentioned spoon but after waiting for her to bring it, I had to go to the front to the hostess stand where she was standing and chit chatting with the hostess to ask for the spoon. Every time I needed anything, I would look up and see her laughing and enjoying herself at the hostess stand. A manager cleared my table, one of the staff members serving the pizza had to go search for a clean plate for us. Our waitress was literally at the front ignoring us. She was pleasant when we spoke to her but she just wasn’t doing her job at all.
I would return but hopefully get a different server. I didn’t know until the end of our meal that we could request different pizzas and have them served. The manager that cleared our table told me.l, not our waitress. I thought we could only eat what was delivered. Next time I will show up with a...
