If I could leave a zero I would! Let’s start by saying there were hundreds of hotels we could’ve chose to throw a special 70th birthday party for our aunt, but this location was the only convenience. IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO BOOK AN EVENT HERE BEWARE AND DO NOT PURCHASE FOOD PACKAGE.
We had a lot of family come in from out of town so this was very important to us. We were told we could not bring in any food at first but if we purchased a food package that we will be able to bring in our own cake, rice & pasta (which is a huge part of our culture). Naomi ok’d this and had no problems, she even mentioned that the food sounded good and made a joke “I would love to attend this party”. We invited her to come by and even offered her a plate of food to take her with her if she did stop by. We agreed to pay $700 for a minimum of 20 guests on the food package totaling a little less than $2000 for the room and food. I did have 1 concern which was a hefty fee that she mentioned was a “cleaning fee”. Not a problem!
Everything was great leading up to the event, when they brought out about 12-15 cold and dry sliders, dry ceasar wraps, and cakes that literally were bought from Sam’s club or Costco, I know cause I shop there. Still not a problem for us as we wanted to just have a good time & good thing we were able to bring our own food, right? Wrong, as they later on attempted to charge my card 3 separate times without reaching out to me to explain why first. The first attempt was for $48, then $250, then $150. 3 DIFFERENT ATTEMPTS AND NOT 1 COURTESY CALL. It wasn’t until I had to call them, that I found out why. When I called, the lady who answered mentioned she would get me to the right person to speak with but it looked like there was a wine stain on the rug which is what the charge was for, but she asked me to hold and get me to the manager on duty. The front desk manager answers the line and verbatim says “hello Mr. I don’t know what your complaining about and in your contract it says you cannot bring outside food in”. I was appalled how a manager could even answer the phone in such tone/manner. After confirming that Naomi knew we were bringing food, she called Naomi on speaker where Naomi stated “you only said you were going to bring in a pan of rice and a cake”. Am I irrational to think that this is clearly a subjective loophole that they use to charge people whatever they want. So I could bring in 2 outside food items and not 4? On top of that the host even offered to bring us burners and tray from her home personally to assist us with the food we were bringing in. So why didn’t anyone mention it before we brought it in. They were all aware of the 4 trays we were bringing in.
We even took the time to clean the entire place regardless of the fee that was included for cleaning. To make matters worse, we were accused of having people smoking outside. The hotel was packed that night with so many people and families outside, how could they blame us? Again there wasn’t even a common gesture or conversation before charging me as to why these were the concerns of the hotel. To add insult, if there was a stain on the rug, shouldn't that be included in the cleaning fee we paid for?
Absolute horrible customer service, we were even denied extra plates several times that night by Chris the bartender or manager whatever she was, she was rude all night and not accommodating. One of my family members went to ask her for water as we were out and she denied them. Unprofessional, poorly managed and only cares about charging people’s cards without permission. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL FOR EVENTS AND IF SO, PAY THE $250 fine and bring your own food DO NOT PAY FOR THEIR...
Read moreMy family and I checked in late on a Saturday night, completely exhausted and in desperate need of rest. We chose this hotel because of its proximity to my father, who is on hospice and in his final hours. Unfortunately, our stay was extremely disappointing.
When we arrived at our room (515), the temperature was set to 74 degrees. We lowered it right away, but after some time, there was no change. We called the front desk and were told to wait 30 minutes to see if the AC would kick in. Given it was already 11:00 PM after a very long and emotional day, this was incredibly frustrating.
Hoping to cool off, I decided to take a shower. Not long after, my 12-year-old son jumped out of bed because he saw a bug. After taking a picture and looking it up, we discovered it was a bedbug. We immediately gathered our things and went downstairs. The front desk attendant was respectful and apologetic, but also explained they were just a weekend employee and could only move us to a different floor.
We were relocated to a room on the first floor. While we didn’t see any additional bugs, the room was still uncomfortably warm, and we barely got any rest. To make matters worse, there were at least 8 pre teen children running around the lobby and first floor unsupervised. This was well after midnight, and they were very loud in the hallway near our room, making it even more difficult to relax. I have no issue with children, but it was concerning and disruptive given the time and lack of adult supervision.
We chose this hotel based on its good online reviews, but unfortunately, our experience was the opposite. I typically don’t leave reviews, but after looking further, I noticed other guests have also mentioned bedbugs, and the hotel’s response was to deny the claims due to a lack of proof. I’m attaching a photo of the bug we found in our bed in room 515. I sincerely hope this issue is taken seriously moving forward—for the sake of...
Read moreLet's talk about the Hyatt Hotel catering debacle that left us feeling like we were starring in a bad food-themed horror movie. First, they tried to snatch our credit card faster than a seagull swiping a French fry. Apparently, bringing in our own grub is a crime against hotel cuisine, even though we were given the green light to do so! And don't get me started on the 'feeding frenzy' they promised – we could've fed more people with a family-sized pizza and a bag of chips. As for the 'gourmet' spread they provided, it looked like they raided the discount aisle at Costco. $750 for a few cold, dry sliders, wraps that were wrapped tighter and drier than a mummy, and some cheesecake/molten lava cake that not even my 12 year old wanted to eat. Oh, and good luck finding the 'host' – they must’ve been playing hide-and-seek in the linen closet. We had to keep going up front to refill our refreshments and ice. After all that, we cleaned up after ourselves, as we usually do, but continued to be charged additional ‘fees’. A gross attempt to simply nickel and dime us. Next time, we'll stick to hosting parties in the backyard and leaving the hotel catering to the pros... or should I say amateurs.
Oh and dear hotel manager, you’re rude and disrespectful. I think it’s time to go back to training. Your sly comments, tone of voice and communication skills has caused this review. “What am I upset?” Well, we had over 20 guest that will get sharing their...
