Since 1949, The Montgomery Street Cafe has been dishing up a great, affordable breakfast. At 8:30 on a Thursday morning, there was a table for two available. This is good since there's 5 booths, 6 tables, and 7 barstools. It gets crowded early, then drops off after 8:00. The Breakfast Special was about $6, and included coffee, two eggs, 3 bacon strips or 2 sausage patties, 2 biscuits and gravy, and hashbrowns or grits. That's a deal!! The eggs were perfect Service was prompt, friendly, and attentive to the coffee. They are open for breakfast and lunch, serving the typical fare, with CFS, burgers, and sandwiches. Therre's nothing fancy or eclectic about the menu. It's basic Southern food. Two thumbs up.

Service is good! Ambience is great! *Little Cafe on the corner! Loved it! Detailed Review: Corner hole in the wall, expected great food! Service: Quick, to the point, very little small talk. Efficient and on point. 5/5 Environment: Very quaint, and fun for café/diner experience. Food: ordered bacon, cheese omelette, no sides. The eggs were over beaten (mixer), and that took away the texture. Bacon was perfect, cheddar was past prime. Water tasted good! Also ordered a steak, that was good. Cleanliness: Everything was simple but clean. Exception, the menu needed attention. Parking: Limited, per in front of Dickies Arena. Overall: Good for a quick bite, solid experience. Avoid the omelette.

Can't say enough. Been a Fort Worth kid my whole life and finally found my way in. The menu is full of classic, Texas breakfast and lunch standards that are executed hot, fresh and fast. The place immediately has a lived-in feel that makes you feel like you're a regular who has a great secret about a hidden gem. The service was at all times ahead of our needs. I got coffee the second before my brain told me I needed it every time. Honestly, our order went in and came out looking so good so fast that I didn't even get a picture of those crispy hash browns before I demolished my plate. A must-go, should-support and come-often kind of place.

The middle aged blonde waitress was so rude. I can't believe my experience. My daughter and I were meeting a group of three others to eat here, after seeing good reviews, and wanted some local food. I arrived first as they were stuck in traffic, and noticed that the entire lot and surrounding area was full, so I called in to save a table. She was short over the phone and was annoyed that I called. 20 minutes later, we come in and politely ask for a booth (as I know our other guests prefer booths) instead of the table that she had chosen. It was also right in the middle of the restaurant, which we all wanted to avoid. It wasn't very busy at this time, as the breakfast crowd had just left. I quickly realize that we wouldn't all fit in a booth, and tell her that we are actually going to take the original table, apologized, and said that I had made a mistake. The waitress loudly and very annoyed, says that we should have just taken the table she had originally given us, and walked off (still plenty of available tables). I thought nothing much of her comment until later, as it wasn't a big deal) She brings us drinks, and we sit for about ten minutes waiting on our other guests. She seemed nice enough, when bringing the drinks.Even suggested my daughter make her own fresh lemonade, with Lemons and sugar, and provided these for her, which she was excited about. Our other three guests arrive, she brings drinks, and then asks if we are ready to order. I politely say, "I think just a few more minutes, thank you!" as our friends were still deciding. My friends had gotten held up in traffic, and had a startling incident which left them a bit frazzled, and they took a moment to explain it to me and settle into their seats (about ten minutes after being seated). The waitress comes over, asks if we are ready to order, and my friends are still deciding. We have never been here, so we are not familiar with the restaurant at all. And they were thinking about splitting a meal, and were trying to figure out an appropriate meal for their daughter, who has a severe food allergy. I realize they are not ready yet, and tell her, "almost... just debating between a couple things!" out of nowhere, the waitress makes an angry sigh, stomps away, and shouts, "you know what? I'm done with you! I'm Done! God!" I was so caught off guard, that I hadn't realized at first that she was angry with us. I suppose switching tables (which did not, in any way, create any work for her... It was simple, and another waitress insisted it was OK right then in front of her),and asking for a few minutes to look at the menu was just too much to ask. We saw no sign of her for 20 minutes, and another waitress finally took our order. I asked her if I had offended our original waitress in any way, and explained her sudden outburst... She said she had no idea that this took place, and didn't hear of anything fun her. The original waitress came out during the last ten minutes of our stay, after the food came and was suddenly cheery and overly nice and attentive, in an annoying manner, smelling of gingivitis and smoke.... Causing me to lose my appetite. I think she was trying to get her tip, after screwing up. I didn't find the food to be good either. I am vegetarian, so the options are limited here, but I got the vegetable soup.... Which was probably from a can. Very tasteless and bland. My daughter got a grilled cheese... Cheese on bread. What else can I say? That's what we ordered, but I expected it to be a little more unique. Our friends ordered a hamburger and chicken friedsteak, and seemed to enjoy it just fine. We felt very awkward and unwelcome the entire time. We considered leaving, but didn't want to leave after drinking the beverages. I think we should have. It wasn't a very nice way to catch up with my friends, especially after they had been flustered driving, and just wanted to relax. It really just kept the ball rolling for a bad day. This lady was so very unprofessional, and should absolutely not work in...

I am someone who rarely writes negative reviews, as I know how crucial reviews are to small businesses. However, this was some of the WORST service I have ever experienced. We came in for breakfast and stood there for a couple minutes with zero greeting before being told to seat ourselves. We were completely ignored after seating as well. We were sitting for close to 10 minutes when all the staff starts yelling about not serving breakfast. One staff member with short brown hair made a rude comment to us while yelling about breakfast. Candace finally came over to take our order and was extremely rude beyond anything I have ever experienced. Was short about us having “one minute to order breakfast” and we informed her we’d been sitting there for close to 10 minutes, while still being courteous to her, and she snapped and said that no we had not. She took our order and we asked another staff for her name. She came over after and gave what should’ve been an apology and started making excuses in a rude manner, and my partner who has managed and worked in 5 star restaurants for over 20 years told her that her approach was not taken well and she started going off and walking away. We left after that without getting our food. I have NEVER had a sever that rude and hateful for no reason. She should be fired, as having someone with her attitude and approach is completely unacceptable. Her attitude and remarks were completely uncalled for, and we had come in well before 10:30 in enough time to order breakfast. I can’t express how unprofessional and disrespectful our experience was with Candace, and the rest of the restaurant staff. People like this should not be allowed to work in service and deal...

Firstly, I want to give credit to MSC. Y'all have great employees and lots of good stuff on the menu. Your coffee is great! Two coworkers and I came in for the first time, and it'll be our last probably. Firstly, they stop serving breakfast at 10:30. Really? This is an old fashioned greasy spoon type of place and you don't serve breakfast after 10:30? Then, all of our food tasted like it was from a can or frozen. Their chicken fried steak is frozen, and if you don't let them defrost right, you get that shrunk down piece of meat with a giant piece of breading around it. It was a tasty frozen patty, but we could tell it was frozen. I got the steak platter with two sides. I got double fries. Gosh. They were Walmart frozen curly fries. I have the exact same bag in my freezer.

I feel bad, because this is usually when you see older restaurants start to falter before closing for good. The service was excellent, and the coffee was great. However, I came to get stuffed, and all I got was disappointment. $15ish out the door for food I could've bought at Walmart and cooked it myself. Lastly. the manager/daughter was yelling at her mother/owner on the phone. She finally took it outside after the fiftieth "Mama!"

I hate to leave this review, but I want...
