We had our daughter's wedding at the Bowie House. A small intimate wedding with just family and fiends. It was a beautiful setting the decor, the staff went above and beyond what we anticipated. I was concerned because our wedding party was small and as busy as the hotel was we were going to be stuck in the room and forgotten. That could NOT be further than the truth. It was 5 STAR service from the moment we drove up with the valets to checkin process to meeting with John the event coordinator for the Bowie House. Every one gave us their undivided attention from the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out. As I mentioned our group was small. we had the side patio with a full wait staff serving FABULOUS hors d'oeuvres and 2 bartenders serving top shelf cocktails. The wedding ceremony was on the beautiful side patio very private. After the ceremony, we had cocktail and hors d'oeuvres until it was time for a sit down dinner in the Laney Room. The room was small beautifully decorated with simple flower arrangements. Once again the service was 5 star. Our group of 25 had 5 waiters we never had to wait for anything. Dinner was exceptionally delicious
I read the reviews and was very confused---Most said the decor was beautiful the staff and service were exceptional YET they gave 1 star??? it was expensive ---Really?? If you want a beautiful experience and you want to be treated well in a stunning venue then I would expect to pay accordingly. The Bowie House is a 5 Star experience. We were NOT disappointed and WE WILL be back. It will be a night out with friends and family where we will be treated well by the staff the food is amazing and great cocktails. I am willing to pay the price of a great night out. The Bowie House will...
Read moreThis is a nicely designed property with an upscale traditional western decor. We stopped in at 6:30 to listen to the Thursday night music, have a drink and a bite to eat. We valet parked as this seemed to be the only option. The valet parking is $10 plus tip which you pay for inside before leaving. We opted to sit in the bar and it was completely full since there were many rodeo attendees there. We ordered a drink at the bar and finally found a seat and the music started. The artist had changed from the one listed on their website. Except for a few members of the singer- songwriter’s family, we were the only ones listening and clapping. It was impossible to hear the words and music over the lively bar crowd and the sound system was low quality. The artist was very good and in a different environment we would have really enjoyed his show. We did find out that they sometimes have the live music in another area with better acoustics and more of a listening room atmosphere. The other problem was the service. I had to get up to find someone to take our food order. I had to find someone when we wanted the check. It is not because they were so busy but our waitress was sitting down at a table for a long time visiting with someone and talking at length to other members of the staff. Also, I asked to speak to a manager to give our input regarding the acoustics and he never showed up and the waitress verified that she had asked him to stop by. After we expressed disappointment that he did not stop by, he still did not show up. We split a sandwich and had 2 drinks and one glass of wine and it was all good. The food and drinks were expensive and that was expected but the service fell short by...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed at Bowie House this past weekend and we were extremely disappointed. Considering the cost, pictures and reviews we had high hopes of an enjoyable weekend.
The bad: Booking with Amex we were confirmed a 4pm late checkout which at check in they verbally confirmed and provided a paper listing 4pm late checkout guaranteed. The morning of our departure we received three housekeeping knocks which we politely declined and a fourth knock at noon, other than housekeeping, which I asked through the door three times what is needed with no reply- a min later the door opened while my wife was changing with demands that we were past checkout (its just after noon at this point) and to call the front desk immediately. The front desk was very polite and apologetic about their error and for entering my room- plus I received an apology from the manager which was appreciated.
The not expected: Small shower even after being upgraded Poor quality sheets and quite loud when moving around Ice can only be delivered by room service Tiny trashcans No TV remote Hotel Bar on Saturday at 4pm was extremely slow with little focus on serving-a few others at the bar shared my dissatisfaction The hotel art is strange and doesn't fit the FW vibe Room was nice but it didn't align with the cost
The Good: Valet and Check in was professional and expedient Front desk was always helpful and courteous Room service was great Breakfast was incredible Drinks were good The restaurant Bricks and Horses was good
Having stayed at every top rated hotel in FW, Bowie house was extremely disappointing. Two weekends ago we stayed at Hotel Drover and they exceeded every...
