A True Texas Treasure – Incredible Day at the Fort Worth Stockyards!

Our visit to the Fort Worth Stockyards was one of the most memorable and enjoyable experiences we’ve had as a family. From start to finish, it felt like stepping into a living piece of Texas history—authentic, exciting, and full of charm. If you’re looking for a fun, family-friendly outing with great food, warm people, and a real Western vibe, this is the place to be.

The atmosphere is absolutely incredible. Whether you’re walking along the historic brick streets, watching the longhorn cattle drive, or just soaking in the sights and sounds of cowboy culture, there’s something special around every corner. It’s the kind of place where you can slow down, take it all in, and just enjoy being present with your loved ones.

One of the biggest highlights for us was the cattle drive. Seeing those massive, majestic longhorns walking down the street was like something out of a movie. The horses were stunning, the cowhands were friendly and knowledgeable, and the whole experience was both educational and inspiring. It’s not every day you get to be that close to such incredible animals in such a unique setting.

The people truly made the experience even better. Everyone we met was kind, welcoming, and genuinely proud of the culture and history they were sharing. It didn’t matter if we were popping into a shop, chatting with a local, or asking for directions—hospitality was everywhere, and it made the whole day feel even more special.

And let’s talk about the food—hands down amazing. There are so many great restaurants and food spots to choose from, and whether you’re in the mood for classic Texas BBQ, a juicy steak, or some homestyle comfort food, you’ll leave full and happy. Every bite tasted like it was made with love, and the quality and flavor were top-tier.

There’s so much to do at the Stockyards—from shopping for Western gear to catching a live rodeo or just exploring the museums and live music spots. It’s the perfect mix of entertainment and culture, and there’s something for every age.

This was our first time going and except for the crazy parking lots, we were third car back waiting for our turn to park. We sat there over forty minutes the girl that was at the booth was just sitting there like no one else was around, finally a guy came out there and told us she wasn't letting anyone else in there. We had to go down the street to park, we went to the parking garage. She could have told us that before 40 minutes past. Then when we finally got in there, where we were trying to buy the bracelet from to pay for the rides and games it was taking your money but not giving you a card. A member of our party went to find customer service, we had to wait another 40 minutes to 50 minutes for someone to come down there and get the machines to give us a card. Once all that mess went by we had fun, spending time with family. The two kids had a great time riding rides and playing games, and of course you have to eat out there. My granddaughter had a fried Twinkie yuck, she liked it but I wasn't...

Disappointing. Facility is great. But at the Fort Worth Stock Show I do not understand why you can't get a Coors Light, Coors Original, and Miller Lite. Why Hummus is offered at the Rodeo with 17 dollar hamburgers but my kid can't get cotton candy or my wife can't get a funnel cake? And I don't drink Coors Light but it just seems odd that since that is one of the number one beers in Texas, you aren't be able to get one. The announcer that I have enjoyed for all of my 51 years is loud. Turn down the volume just a little. Sell a variety of beer for everyone. More then one cotton candy guy in an entire area and funnel cake... who doesn't want that? Turn down the volume. We can hear. And 14 dollars for a Shiner after i found it is a little stout even in today's arena where everything is expensive.
