I arrived in my power wheelchair expecting things to be accessible and they were woefully lacking in multiple categories. First, there is literally 1 marked handicap parking spot. However, there are 2 single occupancy accessible bathrooms which I was able to use successfully in mywheelchair. My biggest issue is the off leash dog park is not accessible at all. I'd researched the website and Google maps to try and get an idea of how my wheelchair would do, and things appeared promising. Sadly, all of the accessible gates for the tiny patch of concrete available in the off leash area were literally BOLTED shut and there were ZERO staff on site to assist or answer questions. I attempted to go in the only entrance to the off leash section and didn't make it a foot before my wheelchair got stuck. Thankfully I am able to walk with help and was able to use my chair as a walker with my husband's support. If I had been completely paralyzed instead of hemiplegic I would have needed to call the fire department to help get me unstuck. The unleashed area ground consists of loose dirt (think potting soil consistency) with a light dusting of mulch. Even my rugged terrain chair didn't stand a chance. We also struggled with the app (required to enter). It would not finalize our payment (spin circle of doom for over an hour). Bottomline, the park has potential, but we expected staff and service to be available. The saving grace? We meet Andrea and her lovely pups Fern and Rose. She was amazing and quickly noticed our struggles and confusion. She then got right to answering our many questions and even taught us about the park. She was a tremendous help and salvaged our trip with her assistance and kindness. Overall, I'm very disappointed the accessible areas were physically there, but made inaccessible by being permanently bolted shut. On top of not having a single employee present to open the gates. So, if you require a wheelchair, know only the cantina area and bathrooms are accessible and parking is limited to just 1 marked spot. Other things we learned from Andrea: staff is only present during cantina and bar hours, water is often turned on but not always (plan accordingly), the App is often problematic, so you may have better luck paying...
Read moreI don't usually write reviews but I want to be fair. My friends and I brought four dogs tonight. The dogs loved it. There weren't enough chairs and there were 6 of us. We all had drinks and wanted to keep an eye on our dogs. So I asked different people if anyone was using their chairs and eventually we got 4 for us. We were playing and videoing our dogs and after about 10 minutes of sitting there a patron approaches us and says "Did you take two chairs everyone is saying you did!". My friend explained that we had asked everyone before we moved them and sat in them. He continued to confront us shouting and going on. My friend was videoing her dog and he got in the video while he was shouting and started waving while she was videoing. He went back to his small group who was telling him to be quiet and to stop. Another chair became available so my friend walked over and sat it down for him and walked away she said nothing. Then he started shouting at us from across the park. Seriously??? We turned our chairs so we weren't even facing trying to ignore him but still he continued. Finally a nice employee came up and asked if he was harassing us and we said yes, that we had even given him a chair and still he was shouting. She apologized and went over to talk to him, he still continued so the manager came. After she was done I went to speak to her in the front. She informed me that we all should "just have a good experience and everyone be happy". This would be ideal, if we had not already spent $25 to get the dogs in, $60 more on food (my daughter waited 30 minutes for cold food) and drinks in just the short time we had been there. It was a huge downer for all of us and was extremely embarrassing. We left soon afterwards while the first employee again apologized and asked if we were ok. Please get more chairs and make it known that if you aren't using them, someone else will. There really isn't any reason for this kind of behavior, it wouldn't be tolerated in a restaurant or any other type of establishment with an entry fee, so why should if...
Read moreUpdate: My dog got an infection called Giardia. She got really sick and my husband and I had to take her to her vet. The vet said the infection takes about 5 to 12 days for symptoms to show up. Symptoms for our dog started showing up this Tuesday-10 days after I took her here- the vet asked if we had other dogs and I told her no. The infection is commonly contracted through other dogs feces, urine or contaminated water. Anyway we eliminated all other possibilities- we don't have other dogs, our dog doesn't eat anything on walks, and we always go outside with her no matter what to keep an eye on her- I told the vet about this place and she said it is a major possibility our dog contracted it from another dog while at MUTTS. Moral of this story is be very cautious and keep a close eye on your dog. Try to get their own water bowl and try not to let other dogs drink from it. Also watch the kiddie ice pool they set out, last time a dog urinated in it and my dog went right after to eat some of the ice. I ran after her to stop her from getting in but it was too late, it happened really fast. My mom and I then dumped the kiddie pool and asked the attendant to please put new ice in. On that Saturday there was only one attendant there and he was busy somewhere else. I think they should have at least 3 in the yard to keep an eye out for things like this. Plus one attendant can't do it all. There was feces in different areas and I also had to keep my dog from getting to close to it. -This was my 2nd visit.
First time and it was great. Friendly staff, good food and drinks, you can also purchase snacks or treats for your loved dog. The dog yard it's self has shady areas for this Texas heat. I'll probably end up getting the monthly...
