Shipley Do-Nuts — Restaurant in Fort Worth

I’ve went to Shipley’s for years. I was so happy when this one opened near my house and have went here every since. They are much pricier, but the kolaches are good.

But this is two for two, going there months a part with a horrible experience!

First annoying experience was a couple months ago, no kolaches, just a few glazed donuts… With hours until closing time. What’s the point of being open!!?

But TODAY!!! Today took the cake. My conversation with the girl at the window….. me: can I get a half dozen glazed donuts? Girl: we don’t have any glazed left sorry Me: ok, chocolate? Girl: no sorry Me: strawberry? Girl: no. Me: do you guys have ANY donuts left? Girl: no, not really 😒 Like why are we even having this conversation!?!!!?? OMG, just say that!

So then I got 1/2 dozen regular kolaches and 1/2 dozen jalapeño kolaches….. $30!!!!!! I’m not even kidding! Ok, so they are good and have always been a pretty good size. I get them home… They are less than half the size they have been for years! What the heck!?! No, I didn’t pre check them to see if after the kolaches I’ve been buying for the past 8 years had shrunk more than double the size…. And are STILL being charged almost $2.50 per kolache. Since this place just opened and I live nearby I thought I would try their donut’s and write a good review with photos. I usually don’t write bad reviews but my experience was not very good. It started out when I pulled up at the drive-through window, my order was symple a dozen donuts in total. 10 hot glazed donuts and as for the last two I asked the lady what she recommended. She couldn’t give me an answer and had to ask another employee who then had to come up with something. It’s as if they don’t even know what they’re selling. Oh yeah and as for the hot donuts I asked for, they where cold stones. literally cold stones. I cannot recommend this place because I’ve had better donuts from so many surrounding places.

I’ve been to this location before and it’s been great! Very good service!! Well today I arrived at 1:38pm (they close at 2pm), I knew that pickings would be slim because they were closing soon. However, when I pulled up to the drive-thru window, I was shocked when I was told, “ Oh you’ve come late and we have already begun throwing away the food.” Again, I knew I may not have gotten my first choice because I knew they were closing soon, but to say “you’ve come late, we’ve already begun throwing away food” is not ok. I didn’t order anything because I was put off by that. I can definitely understand not making anymore food after a certain time but to begin throwing away food before closing is not ok and extremely wasteful.
