If questioning the reality of your physical existence is what you’re into, this spot is for you. They claim not to take reservations, but the “Reserved” placard on their tables suggest otherwise. If you’ve never been, this place is a small, about the size of a living room. There were 6-7 people were working that night, less than 10 patrons. No one acknowledged us walking in. We waited patiently at the host station. Then waited longer, and then some more. Not one person bothered to made eye contact or so much as glance our direction. There was never a “Hi, we’ll be with you in a moment.”—we were actually invisible.
I eventually got tired of waiting and it was beginning to creep my kids out. I approached a man at the takeout counter and gently asked if we could seat ourselves at one of the vacant reserved tables (for which reservations cannot be made). The man mumbled back something incomprehensible without stopping what he was doing to look up at me. I thanked him and walked myself back the host station.
We waited a little longer before I ultimately decided the only worthwhile thing this restaurant could offer was a moment for me to teach my children a lesson on respect. I walked up to another worker, pulled the woman aside and very quietly, stated that I did not appreciate how we were treated. We left and ended up at Kabuki where it turns out we’d morphed back into human form and were no...
Read moreThe food is very good. And certainly this is the best price-performance ratio that we've found in Orange County Japanese restaurants. The decor is a little plasticky plain. We found the service efficient but not friendly. I was sad when the waiter spilled some of the delicious tempura dipping sauce on my wife. I was disappointed that when I asked for green tea they gave me a tea bag. Now for the pluses: simply excellent tempura - very fresh, very fragrant, not oily or greasy; the steamed rice was done perfectly; the chicken teriyaki was not too sweet and not too thick: it was very very good! The pan-fried gyoza were just right: strongly recommended. The salad that comes with the combination plate was really fresh and perfectly dressed with a light dressing. The California roll was excellent, too. I was disappointed that there was a plastic spoon attached to the pen for signing my credit card slip: I don't need to steal a ball point pen! Over all, a very good restaurant that just needs a little bit of work on customer care. I...
Read moreFull Moon Sushi has been our "Go to" for quite a while now. At least 10+ years. This is quality sushi at an affordable price. I do prefer the fou tain valley location over others. Tustin location is a mile or so from my house and fountain valley is roughly 8-10 miles away but i make the drive to fountain valley..Not that Tustin is any less quality just personal preference. From when i started foing til now the rolls have been getting smaller and smaller but still quality and affordable. I reccomend this spot for sure. There is definitely better sushi out there but for the price this is worth it. Service today was a bit slow but it hit the spot once it arrived to the table. Worthy of maybe a 4 star based on this visit alone but i do go quite often and 9 times out of 10 its spot on. Good clean restaurant, clean restrooms, courteous service. Go check it out if your in the market for...
