When it comes to good Chinese food, it's very rare to find that one hidden gem that just serves great grub with a friendly disposition in a welcoming atmosphere. It's even rare to find all of that at a great price. Luckily, China Cottage get it's right and delivers it all with quickness and apparently ease. Let's sum up my experience: Walking in the doors, I found a very lovely little restaurant with plenty of dine-in seating and very friendly wait staff. After looking at the menu, I settled in the Chicken with Garlic Sauce Combo Plate. I was shocked it only cost $10.99, which was well below my expectations. 10 minutes later, my food was delivered hot and with gratitude (I heard "Have a good night" from everyone there, including the chef!) 5 minutes later, I was home, ready to eat my plate. The plate was filled to the brim with beautiful chicken, rice, an egg roll and a chicken wing piece. Every sauce they had was in my bag: soy, duck, hot mustard and sweet and sour sauce for every component of my meal. The first bite is always a indication for how the rest of the meal will taste. The first bite of my chicken was Dynamite. The excellence continued with a crispy egg roll and chicken wing, beautifully cooked fried rice and crispy veggies with tender chicken and a delicious garlic sauce.
Overall, China Cottage offers that rare combination of great food and service, delivered quickly and with plenty of joy. You can always tell when the chef is having a good night through the food he provides. The chef must have been overjoyed because everything tasted amazing and the price was just right ($10.99? That's cheaper than a Chick-fil-A combo meal and you get twice as much food!). The Best part is they're open on Sunday, which Chick-fil-A is not. They also stay open until 9 pm through 10 pm, on certain days (They are closed on Mondays, though).
With my craving fully satisfied, I have to say that I'm truly impressed with the entire experience. It's a wonder they aren't busier than they should be. China Cottage is a little slice of heaven, straight out of Beijing (if they served Chinese -American food there). This is my new favorite joint in Fountain and, yes, I have been to Dragon King. Compared to them, China cottage isn't just only a bargain it's a slam dunk no-brainer.
Save yourself from bad service and high process. China cottage is what you're looking for in the Chinese-American food market! I'd happily travel from the Springs just to have one more...
Read moreI placed an order that was over $40 and I had to return all of it! The shrimp fried rice was Old;rice was gummy, lo mein noodles were over cooked, fried rice was plain yellow rice with Nothing in it, no eggs, onions, vegetables etc. I have Never had fried rice with Nothing in it! Needless to say I promptly called to complain, manager wasn't there, so I personally returned food to restaurant. I spoke with whom I believe is manager/owner as be is looking at fu) containers of food I returned. When I pointed out the side of fried rice, he said that was "none of my business " Really? I'm spending money? I'm recording the whole exchange between us to cya in the event I had to dispute charge, once he realized. He did in fact refund my card, which I'm glad because I would have fought it. He saw the food, Never offered to make fresh, no apology and he has a nasty attitude. I would advise anyone who has Not eaten at China Cottage (Fountain, Co) there is a change of ownership and the quality of food has gone downhill! The previous owner was always Friendly and customer orientated. It saddens me that there is no longer a Chinese restaurant I can refer people to in this area, especially the...
Read moreMy wife has a shellfish allergy. We recently placed a delivery order. While ordering, she specified that she had the allergy and to please make sure that none of her food was cooked in with any shellfish (which she has done numerous times in the past). This time, they inform her that several of the things she ordered were often cooked with shellfish and that they would have to cook a different batch. Ok, so we continue with the order. When the food is delivered, the lady making the delivery has been tasked with telling my wife that they will no longer accept our orders because it "took too long to accommodate her order." To top this all off, once my wife was part way through her meal, she realized that she was having an allergic reaction. So their "taking more time" made them even more careless with their cross-contamination. Lucky for them her allergy isn't life threatening if she is only exposed to a small amount. If you have allergies, STAY AWAY! Me and my family have gone here for over 20 years. ...
