I finally tried this place and it was great! The food was excellent. My husband and I decided to go eat brunch again since we really enjoyed it the first time. When we walked in and I immediately saw there were small booths available but the hostess lead us to a huge U-shaped booth, she sat us in one of those the last time we were there, it was awkward but we didn’t complain. This time though, there was a big family with several toddlers. It being just me and my husband wanting an enjoyable brunch, we thought it best to sit somewhere else. The hostess then said how about the table top which was on the other side of the family and would’ve been basically the same. I asked if they had anything on the other side of the restaurant where the small booths are at, she said no, then she said how about this table and it was the table right behind the big family. I asked her again if there were any booths available on the other side and she said no, what she offered was the only thing that was available. That was untrue, there were at least 4 open booths on the other side where the small booths are located. So we said thanks and left. I asked my son about this who was a server in the past. He said there’s a monopoly when it comes to servers assigned tables. But he said that ultimately if the customer wanted to sit elsewhere and there were tables available, he would absolutely accommodate the customer. I don’t know if this is the reason the hostess didn’t budge on accommodating us but I will say it left a bad vibe about this restaurant. It appears as if this newer restaurant already succumbed to the Yuma spell of poor...
Read moreI came to this place November 2021, and after a greasy Monte Cristo sandwich I swore I would never come back to The Broken Yolk Cafe.
Fast forward to 2023 and a dear friend had mentioned coming to breakfast here and mentioned it was delicious. I was apprehensive because of the previous experience but I’ve been to therapy and have a clear understanding of growth, evolving and becoming a better version of yourself. I decided to give the Broken Yolk Cafe a second chance, perhaps the cook had been replaced and there was now someone with more taste in charge of the kitchen. Maybe the time I went in 2021 the cooks were having a bad day. We never know right?
Well I was accompanied by my friend and my lover. My boo ordered the Chilaquiles Bowl because that’s their thing, and I went with the stuffed French toast, my friend ordered the pancakes.
Let me start, this place gets 2 mf stars.
The chilaquiles bowl is offensive, looks like they straight dumped nacho chips into a bowl and poured that chunky Tostitos salsa they sell at Walmart on top, finishing with some carne asada. Some of the chips didn’t even get salsa, I felt like I ordered a nacho bowl rather than chilaquiles.
The loaded French toast, broken yolk, you’re trying way too hard. It’s diabetes on a plate, the first few bites were ok, but then I started to get disgusted by how glutinous the dish is. Mascarpone cheese, caramel, whipped cream, and powdered sugar have no business together.
The pancakes…… well they were pancakes what can I say? The hash browns? Potatoes.
EH if you want to come brunch with your girls come on in, but you won’t find real breakfast...
Read moreFirst off the food was 5 star. I had the Good Morning Burger and my wife had the Waffle Sandwich. From there things were not so good. The waitress was pleasant but it was hard to hear her with music so load. You had to speak loudly to have a conversation with other people at the table. My wife and I had ice tea to drink. When we finished our first glass it took 6 minutes for to give us a refill. I could have stopped her and asked for a refill during one of the three times she walked past our table but I should not have to ask for the refill. I had even put the empty glass at the edge of the table to make it obvious that we needed refills. My burger was very good but also very messy. My wife asked for extra napkins and the waitress said "of course". It took 8 minutes for her to return with the napkins. In that time frame I again ran out of ice tea. I had the empty glass at the edge of the table for 5 of those 8 minutes. She then finally came back with the napkins and the ice. We also like The Boyzz and Texas Roadhouse. At those restaurants our glasses of ice tea very rarely get below 1/3 of glass before they are being refilled. Yuma Landing occasionally will let our ice get empty but never over one minute and they are there filling our ice tea and apologizing for their delay. Broken Yoke is not a inexpensive place to eat and the service should have the same quality as the food. I don't think we will go back. There are just to many options in Yuma that have food almost as good, cheaper, and...
