I went to the store to buy a Nintendo switch light and a game with it for a birthday gift. My little nephew wanted the FIFA 2023 game, they didn’t have it in store, but they had the 2022 physical copy in store. As I went to pay for the console and the game, the manager/store leader, Kalin, convinced me to buy the digital version of the FIFA 2023, without telling me the headaches that comes with it if the code doesn’t work. After spending close to $300 for the switch and the digital game, went home and tried to download the game on the console, it gave me an error message “The item corresponding to the code you entered is not currently available”. You can imagine the frustration I felt, especially with an eight year old kid standing there anxiously to have fun with his favorite game. After many tries, and even resetting the console to manufacturer’s setting, it still didn’t work. I went back same evening to the store, but they were already closed. So I wasn’t going to have my little nephew wait, so I went to BestBuy, and bought him the actual game they had in stock for half the price, thinking that GameStop will make things right the next day. Boy was I wrong. I went a couple of days later to explain the situation only for the same guy, the store manager Kalin, to tell me basically that it was my problem and to contact the manufacturer, Nintendo. After many calls to corporate, they informed me that it was up to the store manager to okay such a return, and if he didn’t then I have to call Nintendo to make things right. So bottom line, GameStop is a scummy company to do business with, buy your digital or for that matter any electronics from a reputable company like BestBuy or even Walmart that can help you if your item...
Read moreWhen I preordered a PS5, I was told I needed to buy the 1 year warranty in order to place the pre-order otherwise their system would crash but was told that I could return the PS5 when I received it and then get the warranty refunded to me then repurchase it. After weeks of waiting, I received my ps5 and went to this GameStop where the manager (Henry) did not want to honor this. At first I was told that I could not refund the PS5 because it was a bundle and that the digital codes could not be refunded . Then out of thin air henry became CEO & changed the policy and told me he could return just the PS5 & controller for me so I could be refunded the warranty that I didn’t want. As the process was wrapping up, at the end Henry had said he couldn’t resell me my own PS5 that I brought into the store because his policy is that they need to send out all shipped orders. ( something he didn’t mention at the beginning of the process ) I didn’t continue with the return because how does it make sense that anyone would want to ship out their highly sought out for PS5 that was waited for for weeks all because a store can’t honor their word? After the way this manager handling this situation, it is hard not to believe this manager wanted this console for himself and made up policies that benefited his personal gain. He had no intention to help but instead deceive me. I have a business degree but it doesn’t take a degree to know that this isn’t how you run a business or treat your customers. Will be reaching out to corporate to make sure that sending out returned online orders is in fact their...
Read moreOrdered a new game online and when I came to pick it up the game was open. I asked how come it’s not sealed? Their response was “we ran out of the sealed copies so we just gave you the display copy, it’s still brand new.” I asked if they had more copies they said “no that was the only one left.” I’m disappointed with the service here. I don’t recommend ordering online or getting anything new. I’ve been going to GameStop for a very long time and this is the first time something negative has...
