Sanitation? Everything that is shiny, does not have the interior to match, and boy did that ring true with my first visit to Farmer Boys. Saturday 5/7/23, around 8pm I arrived at the Gilbert location to grab some takeout for my girlfriend and I.
I parked in a spot with a sign that said "For To-Go & Carry Out" and proceeded to walk in and start the order. The representative that took my order was also the manager on duty, which didn't become relevant until later. We got the food ordered, and I decided to walk our drinks to my SUV, so that when the food was ready I would have less of a chance to drop something. Ever since my double spinal fusion in March of '21, my grip in my left hand is not full strength.
When I arrived back in the lobby, the manager on duty (girl who took my order), came up to me and informed me that I was parked in a spot that was not for me. So in turn I asked, "Why does the sign say for carry out on it, if it is not for carry out customers?" She replied "It is for drive thru customers after they order to wait and get their food, or delivery drivers." I ended that exchange with "Ok, well it says carry out on the sign, so I wont be moving today, but will be sure to not do that again."
After that, the vibe shifted from a new experience, to oh boy I hope my food is ok. At this point it has been 15-20 mins since I ordered and there is minimal customers in the restaurant, one couple and two teenage boys to be exact.
The next thing is when my experience really went downhill, I looked up and saw one of the front of house staff members pull a Burger out of a to-go box and proceed to start devouring said sandwich. She then sits the burger down, to go join the manager on duty and another girl to start putting to-go orders together. She did not put gloves on, she did not wash her hands, and then proceeded to take the order out the back to door to a customer that had to park and wait from the drive thru that was not busy.
Immediately once one of the girls was not doing something, I asked them to print my receipt, because when I ordered I said I did not need my receipt because I anticipated a lovely experience. Once I asked for the receipt the manager on duty came up to the counter, and asked what the problem is. I then explained I had seen the team member eating while handling food and it made me very uncomfortable. Then the girl that was eating joined in the conversation of me simply waiting to get the receipt I had asked for. The manager then tells the girl that was eating "Don't do that again please" and two of the three of them continue working on trying to print a receipt. Keep in mind, there was maybe 5-10 orders to sort thru to get to my receipt, considering the non volume taking place in the store.
Icing on the cake, the food was horrific. Fries were concrete, bun was soggy, parmesan sour dough bread was chewy, and the sandwiches' were thrown together sloppy regardless of the fact it took me 30 mins to get them.
I followed up with Management at the store Monday morning 5/8, and he told me he gets nothing but complaints about that crew, and asked if the GM can call when they come in. She called, and proceeded to defend the staff, and say they have never received a complaint. Refused to refund my money, and offered 2 free burgers.
Couldn't be more disgusted with the experience on...
Read moreDONT BOTHER! My parents came here when they first opened and said it was great. Fast forward to today, They got their food First because I showed up a little late. After I ordered my food, I sat down and waited with the number placard, after waiting a long while one of the girls from the counter came over and asked if we had forgotten our order at the counter. I said no I didn’t. Are these placards not for us to sit down and the food brought to us? She said yes, and put my food on the table. The french fries felt and tasted like they had been sitting out on the counter for a while, cold nonetheless. I walked back up to the counter to ask if I could get hot fries, the ones they gave me were cold. They took my food on the tray, set it on the counter behind them and I stood and waited for my food. 10 minutes went by and multiple times I was handed different orders asking if this was my food. It wasn’t, it was the other people sitting in the lobby, Waiting for their orders. There was only 5 people in the whole place. Coming up on 15 minutes I finally asked if the fries were ready, and the girl looked at me confused and asked what my food was. I pointed to the sandwich on the counter. She said oh yeah, let me grab that for you, So by the time I got my food back, my fries were hot, but my Chicken Sandwich was cold. Overall, the food was not worth $21 when I could’ve gone across the parking lot and had a hotter meal for almost half of what I paid here. Not a good experience at all. My parents told me that the food that is up on the pictures on the menu is how it looked when the place first opened, but now the sandwiches and hamburgers are almost 3/4’s if not, half of the size they used to be. There was no direction and couldn’t tell if there was a manager to even make a complaint to because the staff all looked like it was their first day. So many people complained that their food was wrong or was charged for something they didn't order. I won't be back....
Read moreFirst timers at Farmers Boys tonight. The drive through line was super long. So we took that as a good sign. While we waited, we discussed that the two kids outside taking orders should pass out menus. Guess what, we got a menu 10 cars later and had to decide our order while the order taker waited. Hmmmm, handing the menus out while cars are waiting, might speed up the process when you reach the order taker. We spent about 25 minutes in line. Was handed a plastic bag with a few items and a bulging white lunch sack that was stuffed to the brim at the window. We got home & hubs got out of the passenger side of the car with the bags. The white paper sack immediately ripped and the contents of that bag knocked into the other bag and scattered contents to the yard. We lost out zucchini, fries and a chicken sandwich to the yard. Lid popped off the French toast order and the burger wrapper opened but those two items were saved. Hey Farmer Boys bags are cheap, don’t over stuff them so the guest has a way to carry the bag! Our order total was $39.30 - french toast was cold & burger was mediocre. The rest of our food was tossed in the trash after being scattered on the lawn. I called the manager. She offered to remake the food if we drove the 7 miles back. (I declined) I really wanted to suggest to her that the bags didn’t need to be stuffed so someone else doesn’t lose half their order. As I write this my hubby’s stomach is rolling and he has the chills, my son said, he doesn’t feel so good after the burger. The drink has my tummy grumbling. We won’t be back. Culver’s makes a better burger & serves their food hot at a...
