2 stars because the food was good. There were 2 employees helping at the time. Julian was fantastic. Very helpful. Fabio however made it a very uncomfortable visit. It was my daughter's birthday and she wanted Mod. I went with her and my parents. Fabio helped my Mom and Julian helped my Dad. I was next in line. A man walked in behind me and fabio called him from the back of the line to take his order. He looked at me multiple times then walked away after the order. When he came back I said" excuse me, can I please order"? He rolled his eyes and rudely told me he was putting his gloves on. He threw the pizza on to the counter and said"what do you want?" Half way through me ordering he picked up the pizza and walked away again. He came back and threw it back on to the counter. He walked away before I was finished so I asked Julian to add one more topping for me. Fabio glared at me from the back. He then walked through the doors to the back office. He yelled "Door" punched it then turned around to stare me down through the door window. He made me very uncomfortable. I could understand If I was rude but I'm over polite with people. Julian could see this was wrong and spoke to his manager without me asking. They gave me a card for a free pizza. Honestly, I won't go back to this location because of Fabio. It was uncalled for. I called the manager and he basically blew me off about it. Said " you got a free pizza" That's not the point. I called corporate and no response. Definitely lost...
Read moreWe decided to try MOD after several acquaintances had mentioned that they liked their pizza & the variety, where you can create pretty much any kind of pizza that you wish, and the price is the same, regardless of the number of toppings. My girlfriend and I decided to just go & pick up our order as the restaurant is only a mile from my house, plus we had a few guests over that evening, & didn't want to drag everyone to a restaurant without having planned to do so ahead of time. Our pizzas were still good & hot when I arrived back home with them, but that was about the only positive with the whole experience. From the 1st bite, I found the pizzas to be subpar at best. The crust was quite thin and a bit doughy in the middle, to nearly over done towards the outside. The sauce was pretty bland except that it had too much oregano for my taste, which I find quite often when Italian dishes or pizza is created in America, probably because my father & his side of the family are from Sicily, and I was raised on a more authentic Italian type of cuisine. When I initially placed the order, I saw that they offered several types of cheese, which I had hoped would really make this a very good pizza. However, I was disappointed again, as the cheese quality was at the level of the shaker can variety offered in grocery stores. All that being said, I obviously wont be ordering from MOD again, and I will be a bit more cautious of whom it is that I take restaurant recommendations from...
Read moreMod pizza is a good fast food alternative for pizza lovers. This location just opened up off of Baseline and Higley Rd, in the same lot as the Fry's Food store (north west corner of lot). I made my first visit the second day they were open.
The menu is consistent across the chain, and they basically allow you order personal sized pizzas in two forms- pre-numbered combos that are typically speciality pizzas, or build-your-own personal pies. It doesn't matter what you choose, the price is the same. You can as many toppings as you want, same price.
They also serve salads which are actually pretty good too, although pricier than they should be.
The restaurant is made for eat and go, but they have seating as well, which was excessively spaced leaving less than 50% capacity. However, they have patio seating as well which will be nice as temperatures are moderate during spring, although likely unusable for summer in Phoenix.
The price for two pizzas and one small salad was $28.46. This is reasonable for quality and taste. It is far more expensive than getting cheapo pizza from other chains like Pappa Johns or Domino's , but a much better pizza.
The staff here was obviously just new and training and they fumbled around a bit as the rush was peaking, but otherwise everyone seemed kind and intent on providing a good experience.
