It is with much sadness that I write this review as Postino in Highlands Ranch has been one of my favorite places for years. I've celebrated countless occasions here and visited dozens of times to enjoy the atmosphere, delicious food and drinks, and the friendly staff. However, my most recent experience on Friday night was deeply disappointing.
I went to Postino for happy hour with five girlfriends, expecting the same welcoming and enjoyable experience I’ve had in the past. After ordering a few glasses of wine, two of us decided to share a bottle before happy hour ended. To our surprise, the server informed us that we were not allowed to order a bottle and could only have one more glass of wine each. He explained that Postino has a policy limiting customers to four drinks and, although he was allowing us one more glass, that would be the final round.
Confused, I asked to speak with the manager James, who confirmed that this policy exists due to concerns about over-serving customers and their safety. While I absolutely appreciate the emphasis on responsible service, I found this surprising because in all my visits, this limit had never been applied. I am in my mid-30’s and know my limit when it comes to drinking. When I asked if we had done something to warrant concern about being over-served, the manager assured us that was not the case.
What was particularly troubling was learning that this "policy" is a judgment call and is not uniformly applied to all patrons. This inconsistency made us feel targeted, especially as a group of six women. I can’t help but wonder if the same restriction would have been imposed on a group of six men enjoying drinks. To add context, none of us were intoxicated, belligerent, or disruptive in any way, both the server and the manager confirmed we had created no issues.
If this is indeed Postino’s policy, it should be communicated clearly and applied consistently to every guest, I feel discriminated against as a woman. It was a disappointing and frustrating experience that left me questioning whether I’ll return to a place I’ve loved...
Read moreI had never been to a Postino's until the Grand Opening of the HR location. As of the time of this writing, I have been back more than 8 times. Here's how I break down the 5 stars: service quality: 10/10 points; or maybe even a 15 out of 10!! this and the food are why we keep coming back; incredibly friendly, responsive, more than a body performing a function but a real person that isn't afraid to engage with you, even when they are crazy busy; special call out to Stephen, Rashad, Noah (helped establish this new location), Joe-the kilt guy, Aime, Alex, Amber and Ellie, to name just a few we have gotten to love and appreciate who they are. We love the fact the staff can dress they way they want to help reflect their individual personalities food quality/portion: 10/10 points; amazing choices that pair perfectly with the large selection of wines/beer; good choices for vegetarians as well; we have now tried every Bruschetta Board in various combinations-they are all incredible in their own ways; portion size is perfect; great for a couple atmosphere: 10/10; inside and outside this location offers a quiet nicely decorated seating; outside is spacious with padded benches, plenty of shade/awnings, misting system for those hot days as well as overhead heating, as needed; be sure to look around the inside for all the unique decorations including the 'game wallpaper' wine/beer: 10/10; regular specials and happy hours; wide range of wines across the globe; and just learned they will be changing the wine list to make it more dynamic; plenty of local beers to suit every taste
Can they improve from my/our experiences of going at a variety of different times and days of the week? So far, almost perfect. The challenge will be maintaining the service levels and food quality. Never had to wait long but with the coming winter, indoor seating could be a limiting factor. But, worth the wait

We had the pleasure of experiencing this location's first weekend open. Absolutely stellar experience on all fronts.
Firstly, we were not expecting everything to be free for this dining experience. But upon arrival we were informed that's what was happening!
The format for the service is that all wait staff circle the restaurant and assist where needed which, as someone that previously managed in the space, is a stellar idea. And my assumption is:
Pay is comprehensive Tips are split in an equitable way
Food quality was excellent, well priced (if we had paid) and expo garnished appropriately on all fronts.
Beer and wine selection was comprehensive and diverse allowing for some great choices regardless of your preferred tastes. Local and imported options.
Design, style, and ambience were perfect. We have now gone during the day and at night and both instances showed real attention to detail and how lighting would affect the experience.
Staff can, it seems, wear what they would like which is refreshing and humanizing.
Service as briefly mentioned was impeccable and the feeling was very community centric, open, and Postino has a menu that can cater to any diet restrictions or preferences.
This is something that was desperately needed in the community.
Local restaurants with amazing food and service exist in Highlands Ranch.
However, on the flip-side, cheaper fast casual eateries exist with variable service, quality and at their worst business owners (or corporate shills) blaming their exodus from heavily populated areas on the "homeless", "petty crime" "Unionization" and "inflation". Insisting on paying their employees a meager wage rather than looking in the mirror to consider, "perhaps we are the problem".
Postino is not local. And that is perfectly fine by me.
A great experience - would...
