Pros: All the dishes including, the Hyderabad's Chicken Dum Biryani that we ordered was absolutely delicious
Cons: The Plain Naan seemed like it was one of those grocery store naans, my husband said. It was inedible.
Details:
It has been cold and raining all day today so I have been watching The Food Ranger on YouTube eating delicious Biryani in Hyderabad, Delhi and Lucknow, so naturally I have a massive craving for Biryani. My husband after work also wants comforting Indian food he says. Upon calling the restaurant we find out they offer food delivery through Door Dash and Uber Eats but both are unable to deliver to us since we are too far. My sweet husband decides to drive the 1 hour round trip to pick up the food to satisfy my cravings.
I call and place the order 20 minutes before he reaches just so that our food is nice and hot. We order the following:
Hyderabadi Chicken Dum Biryani - Mild Hakka Noodles - Mild Hyderabadi Goat Curry - Very Spicy Madras Prawn Curry - Very Spicy Chapati Naan
The food smells absolutely delicious when my husband arrives. We start with the Hyderabadi Goat Curry, and Madras Prawn Curry. Both the dishes are absolutely delicious. We can smell and taste the curry leaves on both and both the dishes are packed with flavor. The only thing is we had ordered both dishes to be made spicy but sadly they both were not spicy. Both dishes were delicious nonetheless.
The only complaint my husband has is that the plain Naan he ordered is definitely not fresh, definitely not cooked in a tandoor and it looks like it came out of a packet sold in the grocery store. He said it was inedible hence I deducted 1 star. He said the chapatis were good. I enjoyed my curries with the complimentary white rice.
Now on to the star of our meal, the Hyderabadi Chicken Dum Biryani - haha when I was serving the Biryani to my husband I was a bit apprehensive as one of the reviews I read said theirs only came with one small chicken drumstick! Luckily for us our Biryani had 2 generous sized chicken drumsticks and 1 chicken thigh. My husband declared this was one of the best chicken biryanis he has ever had. He said it was truly worth him driving for 1 hour in the rain to pick up our dinner. I also thoroughly enjoyed my Biryani. The chicken was so soft and tasty and the Biryani was absolutely delicious.
This was the perfect rainy day meal and I am so excited I have plenty of leftovers for my lunch tomorrow. We will definitely be ordering takeout from Bawarchi Biryani Point again. We want to try their Mutton...
Read moreThe food here is not worst for sure. I had been here twice. But this Biryani is good for people who HAVEN'T had Hyderbadii DUM Biriyani which is the best in the world in my opinion or a benchmark for Biryani. Dum Biriyani not keep keeping the chicken at the bottom of the cup when serving to customer!! It's a process of cooking and go check on YouTube or Have it few restaurants in US also who serve Hyderabadi Dum Biriyani. I had Mutton Keema biriyani here, yes it not bad to eat, but please for GOD's sake , don't call it Keema biriyani. You just served Keema curry on top of biriyani rice. Can you please let me know where did you learn Keema biriyani or have you even had it anytime? Even naatukodi biriyani is just well cooked chicken curry thrown on top of biriyani rice. Frankly , you food is eatable , but request you to please spare a though and stop calling things that you serve as Biriyanis and call then flavored rice with Chicken / Mutton or something, but not not biriyani friends. Today when my friend told you that the Chicken in the Dum Biriyani is hard and the outer layer is hard not soft, you just nodded your head but didn't care to apologize or give a reason it? I won't abuse you, but friend let me tell you, please don't think that you are InDispensable and all the time will be yours. If you want to know what is Biriyani , eat at Tulips restaurant at Charlotte or Persis or Hyderabad House , then you can reply to me or ignore me or whatever. All the people working there are just students and lack the least of empathy when a customer highlights any mistake.
YOu are good at one thing though: when anyone (particularly indians) comes to you counter as ask for Chicken Dum or Natukodi ; suddenly you say all Biriyani is done. When asked when we can have it again, the girl speaks to kitchen person and says 30 or 40 mins and later the food is served in 15 mins. This happened to me twice. I thought I was lucky to get the food. But my wife observed you doing the same thing to 3 other customer as we were there. Wow, Brother you did your MBA perfectly, kudos man....
Read moreI got reminded of my experience when I saw this place itn Google Maps and I'm taking time to write a review @ 3.45AM this morning! I liked their chicken kothu parotta and that's the only reason I went there a couple of times. Their service is horrendous!!! Google says 9.30PM closing time but we were not told that they would close the place @ 9PM when we ordered food @ 8.15PM (we would've opted to-go and they could've saved face). 9.00 PM, right on the dot, an employee comes to the table and says "We close @ 9PM, you can be here for another 5 minutes no problem." Seriously? Right when we're in the middle of a meal? Literally asking someone to get out while eating! I'm not paying another buck to be disrespected anymore! Food can be hit or miss and I can understand that, but if customer service isn't their concern, they probably have to consider some other business. Frustrated because my friend had a bad experience when they tried to act like it's no big deal when he complained that the chicken was old and rubbery in the biryani. No concern whatsoever, their response was "Oh!". One employee says to another, "we can refund their money" and the other one tries to shush the first one just to hold on to the money paid for bad food. My friend had to put his foot down "I've never asked for refunds previously but I need a refund now, this food isn't edible!" How is this place still running?!? Never setting foot into that place ever again!!
Editing just to add this : a dry dish like kothu parotta with no side? No salan or onion gravy? You should see the look on their faces when you ask for that side which they should be giving with this food item in the first place....
