I posted this exact review on Trip advisor but some how it partially disappeared. So I may delete that and repost it there too.
My wife, our youngest daughter, and I traveled an hour and a half, specifically to go to the Red Robin in Tarentum PA. This has been a birthday tradition for her.
We were greeted at the door by a very enthusiastic younger man. (That was probably the highlight of the visit.)
He delivered us to our table, and that is when reality began to sink in. First, as we walked, we noticed that the place was pretty empty, for 7 on a Saturday evening.
Then we made it to our table and sat down, we realized that under the table was NOT clean, there was food and the entire floor was sticky. But we realized from other experiences, that a new table probably would be no different.
Soon, our waitress arrived. (In retrospect, I realize that she didn't even greet us. I don't even recall her saying her name. ) She merely asked us if we wanted any drinks ,which we ordered, then immediately asked if we were ready to order our meals. We were not. So she fetched our drinks and asked again and we ordered our meals.
It took awhile, but our meals were brought out, at which time, my wife asked her to bring us more fries ( after all, they are bottomless and I like fries..). And besides, there may have been ten fries on each plate.
In preparation my wife had grabbed the ketchup bottle and it was empty. So before the waitress walked away, I asked for ketchup. She took the bottle and walked away.
Just about then, another party was seated, a family of six. And she was on them immediately. (They sat just behind my wife.) So the waitress very literally walked by our table at least ten times.
So... I like to use ketchup on my burger and fries, so I had sat there for a few minutes, patiently waiting. But I was hungry. So I ate my fries without.. and was soon ready to begin my burger without as well, but my wife reached over the dividing wall and grabbed a bottle from an adjacent table.
We waited, and waited for our other fries. But... My typically very patient wife, said to checkout using the STUPID electronic thing at the table. (I am a pretty tech savvy guy, but I hate self checkout with a passion. Call me old school, but I prefer to deal WITH people. So I typically refuse to use the kiosks.)
But my wife had enough.
The waitress had walked by our table MANY times, never brought Ketchup, never brought fries, never asked if everything was good or check on additional needs, never tried to upgrade us to extras... Nothing!
There were four tables seated in the back half of the restaurant when we left. Two of the waitresses were standing off to the side talking, not about business.. and these were mature women.. not kids.
My wife was more than gracious by leaving a tip. I would not have. Or, if I did, it would have been very obvious that it was a poor experience.
I should have pulled the manager to the side. But honestly, I was angry at that point.
The only saving Grace for this experience was the young man at the door, he did his part of the hospitality job and was kind on the way out the door also.
So for this experience, I will point to the management.
This particular location is one that we have frequented LOTS of times in the past, in the dozens.. whenever we are in the area, that is usually our spot.
And we will probably go back again. But... Next time, there will be a discussion..
Just overall, it was very lacking of satisfaction. Honestly, my food was not even on par. So just a bad day.. And for a three hour round trip drive to boot... Just to eat at what USED to be my daughter favorite place. I seriously doubt that she will chose to go there for her birthday next year...
Oh well, I guess traditions...
Read moreMy kiddo loves this location 😍 He fell in love with their kids meal pizza and now anytime we're out with Nanny, he asks from his car seat "can we have lunch at Red Robin?" It's always hard to say no...and she usually doesn't 🙃
Since it's located within the mall, it tends to be busy, though since we go during the day we've never had to wait longer than 5 minutes. If you DO have to wait, there is an awesome chalkboard with lots of chalk to keep you and your kids busy until it's time to be seated. There are also little chalk pads you can take to your table and play with that are located on a shelf near the bathrooms.
Red Robin has these awesome tablets at every table that facilitate easier paying of the checks and also have lots of cool apps and games to play at your table if you're willing to pay the few bucks to do so. We usually don't because we travel with our cell phones but I could definitely see why others would.
The food has always been great when we've gone. Fresh, hot, and very tasty! And man, those never-ending fries/chips are just fantastic! Since the burgers are gigantic, I always wind up eating half, finishing my first plate of zucchini fries, and then ordering a second plate that I pack up with the other half of my burger for a midnight dinner snack when I get home.
The burgers are also immensely customizable; you can choose your bun, cheese, and toppings. There are plenty of signature burgers to choose from but you can also make your own creation or alter a signature burger to your liking if you want. And there are plenty of other options on the menu as well; chicken sandwiches, pizza, cold cut sandwiches, a turkey croissant sandwich, etc.
There's also a pretty good drink selection! My FIL and MIL are a bit snobby about their alcohol choices but both have always been happy to find something on the shelf or on tap that appeals to them. Personally, I'm a fan of the cocktails, especially the blue raspberry flavored ones! And their (non-alcoholic) strawberry lemonade is AMAZING! And they even have chocolate milk for the kiddos 🥛
My family is always happy to spend a meal at Red Robin. And our son loves grabbing a balloon on a stick on the way out 🥰 This is definitely a great place to spend an evening, whether you're planning a raucous night out with some friends and booze, you're looking for somewhere fun and delicious to take the kids, somewhere to have a few drinks and watch the game, or a casual date night with someone you love 💝 Red Robin is very likely to leave everyone feeling...
Read moreI am not one to usually write a review or do surveys but me and my family have not eaten here in awhile and decided to try it out today. As expected at dinner time there is wait which we did not mind out all. Sat down and waited another 15 minutes until we were acknowledged and I understand as I work in an industry the same. Everyone is short staffed nothing you can do about it. Ordered drinks and watched them sit at the bar for awhile then received them warm. There were drinks spilt on the floor and the lady mopping said you saw me put this wet floor sign here so if you fall I warned you I will laugh at you. Was not professional in any way. Our waitress was very unpleasant I get it your working hard trying to please people but have some personality, more attitude like we were bothering her more than anything. Our burgers were burnt after being asked out we would like them cooked. My mom ordered a wrap and they gave her a burger and said the order receipt said “well it says burger on here I don’t know what to do”. She also got garlic fries and was given plain we were told an order would be brought out and never came. My brother asked for a strawberry milkshake and was given chocolate. The waitress was very unhappy when we let her know and stormed away. While we waited even longer for his shake they left it sit we almost just left without it. You would think to be a decent human to customers even to get a better tip. We will never be back nor...
