BLUF: Better than Cava. Friendly owner/service. Local owned and operated. Fast and filling. Very well priced for the portion. Give this place a try!
Food: Lunch bowl - Chicken
Let me just say that this place is a hidden gem. Tucked next to the Ford dealership. We placed our order online and offered to pay in shop (no secure online payment available, only unsecured). I ordered 2 chicken lunch bowls. Walked in, owner was very friendly and welcoming. Vendor was dropping off a delivery and it was nice to see him offer food for the hard work.
Asked for sauce on the side. Owner gave us a sample of tzatziki and hummus to try out. Explained that everything in the shop is freshly made and prepared there and his process. Really nice touch since most places offer processed foods. The serving size for lunch was very generous for the price (7.99) and had a nice balance of meat, rice, and toppings. Brought the food home, still nice and warm. IT WAS AMAZING. Seriously. First bite for both me and my wife made us stop for a sec and really comment on how good it was. It has a nice hint of spice and flavor that is not overpowering and blends well with everything in the dish. We tried a little with hummus and tzatziki and it changed the flavor slightly in amazing ways. The sauce (orange) added some extra spice and still meshed very well. Both of us were very full about 3/4 of the way.
Portions, flavor, price beats Cava by miles. We’ll definitely be returning. Please give this place a try, you...
Read moreOur first visit to Falafel Kabob Mediterranean Grill left us with mixed feelings. We were eager to try their food, and while there were some positive aspects, a few issues stood out.
To start with the positives, the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly. We decided to try a bowl and a wrap. The bowl was a pleasant surprise, packed with all the fixings, including rice and a flavorful sauce. It was satisfying.
However, the experience with the wrap was less impressive. Contrary to our expectations, it did not include rice, and no one asked about the sauce preferences, resulting in a rather dry wrap. This was disappointing, and I only managed to eat half of it. Additionally, the wrap was quite small for the $13 price tag, which felt a bit steep given the portion size and overall flavor.
One significant hiccup was the pricing. We received a paper menu to review, but the prices listed were not accurate. This discrepancy was only mentioned when we inquired about our receipt, and while the difference was just 50 cents, it would have been better to know beforehand to avoid any confusion.
We did a take-out order, and there were no utensils in the bag, which was odd and quite annoying.
The ordering system was also somewhat confusing for first-timers like us. We didn't know we could choose our toppings when selecting a menu item.
Falafel Kabob Mediterranean Grill has potential. However, there are areas that need improvement, particularly in...
Read moreWoweee, maybe my favorite falafel place this year. And that's saying something, since I've been going around Rockville, and Virginia. (And they're FAMOUS for falafel)
We walked in and the owner greeted us with the joy and enthusiasm of someone who had just seen Vin Diesel at the grand opening of "The Fate of the Furious" (movie #8). On a side note, Dominic Torretto might be the most interesting character out of any of the 10 movies.
Any way, the four of us waltzed up to the counter and took a brief respite to study the menu. The staff were very personable and wanted to get to know us seeing as we were from out of town. Can you imagine my face when the staff said they had been to Pittsburgh many times! MY CITY!
From then on we were flying high. We received clear explanations on all of the toppings that we asked about and recommendations on the combinations of sauces. We even have a friend who can't make decisions so the staff created a shawarma wrap based on their personal taste buds.
This may have been the best wrap out of the 4 we got. Holy Cow!
While there, the staff owner recognized an Uber driver so it's clear they have a strong community presence. The food was great, the people were great and the staff were great.
Overall, this place brought my family joy on this long and dubious car ride to Delaware.
P.S. The lamb Shawarma fries...
