So yeah I honestly wouldn't recommend this place...especially if you're black. Let me explain, my friend and I love to try different cafes downtown and this is one we haven't been to before. We were so excited especially when we saw that there was a breakfast buffet. When we went in we were not greeted or even acknowledged. But since we haven't been there before we thought we should ask if we order upfront or seat ourselves. They had the a mean mug on their face as soon as we asked the question but got us a table for two. The waiter didn't bother to greet us, say his name, say your welcome when we said thank you, not a word. Then they brought a bottle of water to our table and took about 5 minutes to get cups for us to even drink it. A different waiter came in to take our order and we finally got settled in to get our food. We got the breakfast buffet meal for $15 and an almond rose ice latte. We got almond milk with it bc we're lactose intolerant and that was an extra $1.25. Now mind you, the cafe was not packed at the time so there was honestly no reason for them to take so long with getting our orders or even checking up on us. Not once did anyone check up on us or ask if we wanted anything else for our meal. But they did however have time to do that for other costumer....white costumers. So i think our race was definitely something that was a factor in how our service was especially when we saw another black costumer get the same treatment, no one responding to him, no one talking his order or seating him. Also food wise some of the buffet foods that we're supposed to be warm were cold or even stale. And our coffees has a bad after taste. We finally got the means to get a waiter to ask questions about the karaoke machine, because that's what originally stuck out to us about this cafe. The waiter said he had to ask someone else about that and then never came back to our table. Extremely disappointing and disgusting that this was our experience. And we didn't tip because of how horrible our experience was and the original waiter, who didn't check on is once, had the nerve to looked shocked. It is a common rumor that Italians are not fond of the black community, i was hoping it wasn't true, but this experience kinda proved...
Read moreI can’t say enough good things about this place.
Owner was very authentic and passionate about his food. A Father and son duo worked together and it was such a nice experience being served by the owner and getting to see the chef.
Food quality was impeccable. My girlfriend and I are very selective about what we eat and often talk about going back to Europe just to eat good healthy and authentic Italian food.
Presentation was incredible especially from a “cafe” even the bread smelled fresh and delicious. We asked for more just to take home with us.
Ambiance - again for a cafe what a nice and cozy place to sit down and eat. There’s all kind of seating arrangements and cozy chairs to pick from. (we decided to pick the comfy chairs in the window and people watch)
Service - please understand that speed doesn’t always = good service. This is a family owned and operated establishment.
What you get when speed isn’t a top priority:
Who wants to feel rushed or like a nuisance for asking about different dishes? The owner took his time to explain everything to us in a beautiful way and absolutely sold us on dishes based of his wordings. The hot cocoa and expresso made its way to us within a few minutes while soon being followed by a delicious Burrata salad and then a wholesome Carbonara.
I can’t believe I’ve lived in Frederick this long and just now...
Read moreFriday, May 24, was my first time going over to eat at this restaurant. My first thought was, “this place is really cute!” Inside of the restaurant was different from any restaurant here in Frederick. As soon as walk in, there’s a lounge area where you can sit, take a sip of coffee and read a book. While you go through the restaurant more, you can see there’s some tables and chairs set up to enjoy a good Italian breakfast. There’s also bar stools for people who are alone or just want to sit at the bar stool and have a chat.
While I was there, light music played in the background as my partner and I enjoyed having the Bruschetta All’ Italiana as an appetizer. It was light, refreshing and savory. It was toasted bread with sliced cherry tomatoes and olive oil on top over a bed of arugula. As for the breakfast items, I enjoyed the omelet with prosciutto, tomato and cheese with a side of salad and toasted focaccia bread. My partner had the scrambled eggs mixed in with cheese and marinara sauce with sausage patties and a bed of salad as well. This is, by far, the best Italian restaurant I’ve ever been and it’s all authentic Italian food unlike...
