Remember when Five Guys appeared on the scene big-time?? You couldn’t ask for a better burger… well, you could but very few places served anything but a cooked, frozen patty. Nowadays there are a bunch of burger joints and restaurants that have stepped up their game and produced some really good burgers. Right now, I think we have plenty of good choices and some at better prices.
Where does that leave Five Guys? They are just another burger joint. Two people, two junior burgers with two regular drinks and a single large order of fries. How much? $25. The burger patty was tasty but it wasn’t as beefy as some other places like Checkers and it cost a heck of a lot more than Checkers. The fries were a bit overcooked and smelled/tasted like peanuts and there the small fry pieces outnumbered the bigger, juicier fries. The fries were not worth $6.02. Junior burgers are $6.54. Regular drink (free refills) is $2.39. So, for a whopping $14.95 I got a good burger and fries - about $1.50 less if I ordered a regular fry. Checkers (shout out) has a current “4 for $4” deal where you get all of that plus an apple pie for, you guessed it, $4 which is a savings of over $8.75 per person and the burgers are just as good and the regular fries are much better. McD’s has their Smokehouse burgers which are also yummy and cost less.
I know, Five Guys has all of those awards plastered on the walls of every shop. Look, I didn’t say it was bad… I’m just saying the competition has stepped up the game and for less money. At well over $10 a meal for a burger and fries, I’d rather sit in a sports bar, watch some TV and enjoy a nice beer with my burger and fries. Or for about the same price I can go to a variety of BBQ joints nearby and get a delicious BBQ brisket meal for about the same price. Five Guys has those tiled walls and bags of peanuts to look at and I hear the milkshakes are good too. Five Guys,...
Read moreI went to the five guys at Kingfisher dr. I’ve always love their burgers and I still do. I recently went ketovore/carnivore and decided to order off their a la carte menu and get just the PATTIES ONLY because I found out that they don’t cook their hamburgers in any seed oil. when I put in the order, it was full price as if I was ordering a cheeseburger with buns and condiments with fries and a drink. I asked the lady at the counter why I’m paying $10.19 for just two regular patties with no condiments and no sides. She then explains that they took the “solo patties” off the menu a month ago. I felt like she could have still accommodated me even if they removed the a la carte menu because it doesn’t make any sense to pay that much for just two hamburger patties without any condiments and no sides. I then called the Five guys in buckeystown pike and they said they removed the menu as well…. but yet I see in different states that have Five guys have the a la carte menu and they will accommodate you. So does Mcdonalds, Burger King and Wendys. Looks like I’m not going to Five Guys...
Read more5 guys may have a wall full of articles and accolades claiming they are the BEST burgers around but they are just average greasy bacon cheeseburgers no better than any other of the many Frederick places to get greasy burgers. Most importantly there are many other places in the Frederick area alone to get BETTER burgers at much more affordable prices than the $17 it cost me for a bacon cheeseburger and a small drink TO GO from 5 guys. Could have dined in, got a better burger and still tipped at several other local restaurants. Unfortunately guys prices have skyrocketed while food quality and service have steadily declined. At these prices for a burger and a small drink TO GO a whole bag of those peanuts should be complimentary on...
