If you are not from around here or just passing through while traveling, do yourself a favor and eat at a Roy Roggers!
Roy Roggers is a regional fast food chain that is famous for its fried chicken, roast beef sandwich slowcooked in-house, Gold rush chicken sandwich, Double-R Burger (hamburger with ham on top) and their breakfast options.
Burgers and roast beef sandwiches are severed plain and you are encouraged to pick your own toppings on their "fixin's bar", so if you use the drive through don't forget to ask for a "fixin's cup" which has lettuce, onion, tomato and I believe a couple pickles. They have Sweet Baby Ray's barbecue sauce condiment sauce cups upon request as well.
All of the food on the menu is fresher, of better quality and cooked better than any other burger/sandwich/chicken fast food chain I've ever been to. The only downside to that is the price reflects that. I'd say 20-30% more than McDonald's, two adult lunch/dinner combo meals and you could certainly buy a large pizza from a pizza chain restaurant for less....but it really is worth it if you can afford the little extra cash....I mean they really do blow away McDonald's, Burger King, Arby's, etc. Arby's roast beef sandwich is a joke compared to Roy Rogers' sandwich.
Another thing is their breakfast prices are right on par with McDonald's and Burger King. So, you get better food without the boost in cost.
The only reason I give them 4 stars I stead of 5 is the higher cost but honestly the price they pay for their food costs HAS to be WAY more than McDonald's or Burger King because the quality is so much better, to run a business instead of a charity, there would be no choice but to pass that extra cost onto...
Read moreI had an terrible experience last night and this morning at this restaurant. Last night I stopped there a little before 9:30 and went to the drive-thru and ordered dinner for me and my son. I ordered a 3 piece dark chicken only and a cheeseburger kids meal . The lady stated what would I like as a side with the meal. I stated to her that I want chicken only she said what did you want as a side. I just stated mashed potatoes and gravy because I was tired and hungry and was just tired of the back and forth. She gave me a total that will later change when I get to the window she stated that she rang me up for a two-piece instead of 3 piece chicken. When I told her about not listening to may order she was very frustrated and when she apologized and I paid her I thought the worst was done because we were there for about 15 minutes. I get home to find my order was totally wrong with 2 Breasts and a wing. I was very upset at the disregard for customer service that she will give me something different without asking me. If I wanted a Breast I would have ordered it so since I wanted 2 Thighs and a leg like I stated just know I had to go without a meal because that's not what I wanted. I went this morning to express to the manager on duty of my experience last night so had no regard in solving or trying to come up with a resolution on this matter due to that fact that Roy Rogers is not cheap and I was unhappy with how I was treated. This was the service I was given at this restaurant. Totally unhappy with the display because at the end of the day it was no regard if I ate or not just that they...
Read moreI go here to this location all of the time. Having been a former area manager for two different fast food restaurant chains I tend to look at things from that perspective.
First and foremost I have noticed that they have been attempting to upgrade the atmosphere and they should be given due credit, but I do think they should make a stronger branding effort along the lines of McDonalds and Panera. What stands out most to me is the floor tile in that it is very dated at some of the locations but the television high top table area is winner for sure.
As far as the food choices, I think a fresh cooked signature burger would be something to consider. With that said the fixins bar is always a winner for me and so is the fact that I can mix in a couple of pieces of chicken. Also, you cant beat that Roy's has actual real churned ice cream on site!
The staff is always friendly and the manger seems to keep high involvement and not just hanging out in the back office. That fact seems to show up with the young staff who can be given direction if they start getting off track.
Roy's also gets points for keeping a presence in Frederick for all...
