Place is absolutely awesome. Although they need to get in touch with the fact that they have a customer who regularly comes in there a young man who has some sort of emotional defect who verbally abuses customers calling them names and racial slurs. Upon visiting Wonder books for the first time I came with my friend who was African-American oh, I myself and I'm Caucasian we were outside looking at what the store had to offer in the form of CDs and DVDs. When suddenly we were accosted by a young white gentleman who said we should stop stealing and called my friend a criminal and said black people need to stop stealing. Among other terrible things that he said. I immediately went inside and expressed this concern and was attacked by a customer who apparently knew this young man and stated that he had emotional problems and some sort of emotional defect. Well you would not know that and I can understand that being a problem but the manager promptly said that he has had problems with this person in the past. Apparently this customer with emotional problems does this to other customers and has done it many times they need to really get a handle on this because if they are aware of the situation and they are continuing to allow this person on their premises they are liable for what he is doing to their customers and our opening themselves up for a libel suit. You cannot voluntarily allow someone to abuser customers just because they have some sort of mental defect. That is simply not excusable lots of people have problems and there's people that do have mental issues but if you are aware of it and you allow them to come into your store and abused your customers that's on you. I will not be going back to the store which is unfortunate. I'm writing this review to let the store know and other people know that they could put a stop to this very quickly by telling the young man but he's not allowed on their property if he abuses customers. If he is able to walk out in public by himself and is verbally abusive and threatening. Very simple get it ex parte order and don't allow him on your property. But they've chosen to allow this person to continue to be on their property and harass and be verbally abusive to their...

I have bought books both at the actual location and online. The shop itself is a candy store for bookophiles and I found that a few hours in the store wasn't enough! Books line the shelves, floors and ceilings! It was a great experience. Now, ordering online has been both a good and annoying experience. The pros are that I can search the warehouse for titles and shipping only costs 3.99 for all books. This is so much cheaper than Amazon which charges 3.99 for EACH book. There are many amazing old titles, so if you are looking for new books, make sure you check the year. I have found books for cheap that I can't get anywhere else. The con to this is the extremely slow shipping times. I live about 45 mins away, yet it took more than 10 days to get to my mailbox. It went from Frederick, MD, to two cities in New Jersey, all the way back down to the capital and then to my mailbox! This trip was longer than a book shipped from Texas to MD. I wrote to them about it, but never received a reply. So, don't expect awesome online customer service. Next time, I am going to try the higher cost shipping. It's still better than buying individual books on another site though. Do check out the actual store in Gaithersburg. It's amazing. Oh and one thing to note. A lot of people complain about the money they get back for selling books to WB. There are several local books stores here like Ukazoo who sell books at affordable prices. They will also only give you a small portion of what you think your book is worth. Places like Amazon will give you credit as low as 2.00 on a fairly new book. If you're looking to sell a book, do so by yourself at places like Ebay. You will be disappointed otherwise. Considering most of the books I have bought from WB are no more than 5.00, you can't expect them to give you more than what they can make a profit off of. If you are selling back school books, check out places that buy those books back. These places probably won't give you very much either due to the fact that new editions are released almost every year, rendering the old...

My family and I stopped in this store this afternoon, and the selection was amazing. They have everything from comics, reference books, fiction and literature, horror, and biography. They even have a lengthy children's section complete with a collection of little gold books. I was particularly impressed by their large selection of graphic novels. My husband was thrilled by the amount of variety they offer with their vhs, DVD, and record selection. What we were not thrilled by was the blatantly rude way that we were treated by the attendant at the checkout counter. Isaac, who apparently is in training, is seriously lacking in his person to person demeanor. As soon as I walked up to the counter, and placed my selection on it he noticed I had a trio of graphic novels to purchase. He immediately began to growl at me about having a social media account for reference. I blankly looked at him and explained that I didn't understand what he was talking about. Apparently there was a buy 2 get 1 free sale on graphic novels but you had to like their Facebook page in order to get it. I had seen several signs about sales around the store, but didn't see anything printed on them that stated it was for social media only. Regardless, I don't have Facebook, and the sale would only have saved me $5 so I wasn't bothered by it. Isaac however continued to mutter under his breath about the account, and how he couldn't give me the sale price even though I had already told him I wasn't bothered. One of his coworkers even noticed his behavior, and apologized for him with a "sorry for being so rude". But, did nothing to chide or reprimand him. After completing my transaction I quickly collected my bag, and politely requested to have a copy of my receipt only to be bluntly and coldly informed by Isaac that it was in my bag. At which point my husband, and I were about to lose our tempers. So sadly despite their large selection and amazing prices we did not find Wonder book & video very wonderful, and we definitely will not be...

They have a ton of different merchandise to browse. Everything from vinyl, video games, rare books, comic books and more. Easy to spend a lot of time browsing. However, their prices are absurd. I’m not even sure where to start. I collect comic books and will use that as an example. To be fair, they have a lot of back issue comic books (likely because they can’t sell them at these prices). The majority of their comic books are priced 500% to 1000% higher than what they actually sell for in comic shops, other used book stores, eBay and such. For example, back issues that will cost 50 cents to a dollar at a comic shop are priced $5 to $50 at Wonder Books. I’m talking just your run-of-the-mill-non-key filler books in poor condition. To make matters worse, their ā€œpremium collectibleā€ comic books are so unrealistically high I couldn’t stop looking. Comic books which cost about $5 at comic shops and cons are priced up to and over $100 at Wonder Books. Some are several hundred dollars. I’m not kidding. It makes no sense. Their TPB graphic novels are also way overpriced. Books that are well-worn and tattered, which cost a couple of dollars elsewhere are $10 to $30 at Wonder Books. The same extends to their ā€œnormalā€ inventory of mass media paperbacks and other items. Well-read and well-worn mass media paperbacks are priced around $5, for example. The kinds of books that cost a dollar or two at other used bookstores. Overall, they have an impressive inventory and there are probably a few diamonds in the rough or books priced correctly. However, I found their inventory to be largely overpriced and in poor condition. I didn’t buy anything and won’t be coming back.

I Love Frederick Wonder Book! They have a vast selection of books, collectors items such as comic books, trinkets, tarot cards, leather-bound books, art (statues, canvases, framed paintings, etc..). They even have neck ties. 🤭 Great prices! Man, don't even get me started on the reference material for courses of study. There are text books, field guides, and (insert topic here) for Dummies. Great prices! There's an entire aisle dedicated to entertainment including board games, cards, video games and consoles (if you're lucky). Great prices! Staff are knowledgeable and friendly. ā—ā—ā—Make sure you get a stamp card, because when you go once, you'll be back. 10 stamps will get you a free book up to $5.99.ā—ā—ā— (I've gone through several at this point). Almost every book I have has come from either this location or Hagerstown. Also, not sure if I mentioned the great prices. 😁 I could go on, but you're better off checking them out in person.

I have been coming to this store since I was a child and it never gets old. I cannot say enough good things about Wonder Book. First and foremost, the prices are so low that it actually makes it hard not to leave with a box full of books every single time. And the selection! You really can never be sure what you’ll find on any given visit. They’ve got everything from mass market paperbacks to antique first editions. Crafts, coffee table books, foreign language books, you name it! Finally, the sales! Today we went to get kids books and just happened to be there for a buy 2 get 1 promotion on all kids books, on top of the already cheap prices. Seems like there’s always a promotion going on too. I love this place!
