Place is absolutely awesome. Although they need to get in touch with the fact that they have a customer who regularly comes in there a young man who has some sort of emotional defect who verbally abuses customers calling them names and racial slurs. Upon visiting Wonder books for the first time I came with my friend who was African-American oh, I myself and I'm Caucasian we were outside looking at what the store had to offer in the form of CDs and DVDs. When suddenly we were accosted by a young white gentleman who said we should stop stealing and called my friend a criminal and said black people need to stop stealing. Among other terrible things that he said. I immediately went inside and expressed this concern and was attacked by a customer who apparently knew this young man and stated that he had emotional problems and some sort of emotional defect. Well you would not know that and I can understand that being a problem but the manager promptly said that he has had problems with this person in the past. Apparently this customer with emotional problems does this to other customers and has done it many times they need to really get a handle on this because if they are aware of the situation and they are continuing to allow this person on their premises they are liable for what he is doing to their customers and our opening themselves up for a libel suit. You cannot voluntarily allow someone to abuser customers just because they have some sort of mental defect. That is simply not excusable lots of people have problems and there's people that do have mental issues but if you are aware of it and you allow them to come into your store and abused your customers that's on you. I will not be going back to the store which is unfortunate. I'm writing this review to let the store know and other people know that they could put a stop to this very quickly by telling the young man but he's not allowed on their property if he abuses customers. If he is able to walk out in public by himself and is verbally abusive and threatening. Very simple get it ex parte order and don't allow him on your property. But they've chosen to allow this person to continue to be on their property and harass and be verbally abusive to their...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have bought books both at the actual location and online. The shop itself is a candy store for bookophiles and I found that a few hours in the store wasn't enough! Books line the shelves, floors and ceilings! It was a great experience. Now, ordering online has been both a good and annoying experience. The pros are that I can search the warehouse for titles and shipping only costs 3.99 for all books. This is so much cheaper than Amazon which charges 3.99 for EACH book. There are many amazing old titles, so if you are looking for new books, make sure you check the year. I have found books for cheap that I can't get anywhere else. The con to this is the extremely slow shipping times. I live about 45 mins away, yet it took more than 10 days to get to my mailbox. It went from Frederick, MD, to two cities in New Jersey, all the way back down to the capital and then to my mailbox! This trip was longer than a book shipped from Texas to MD. I wrote to them about it, but never received a reply. So, don't expect awesome online customer service. Next time, I am going to try the higher cost shipping. It's still better than buying individual books on another site though. Do check out the actual store in Gaithersburg. It's amazing. Oh and one thing to note. A lot of people complain about the money they get back for selling books to WB. There are several local books stores here like Ukazoo who sell books at affordable prices. They will also only give you a small portion of what you think your book is worth. Places like Amazon will give you credit as low as 2.00 on a fairly new book. If you're looking to sell a book, do so by yourself at places like Ebay. You will be disappointed otherwise. Considering most of the books I have bought from WB are no more than 5.00, you can't expect them to give you more than what they can make a profit off of. If you are selling back school books, check out places that buy those books back. These places probably won't give you very much either due to the fact that new editions are released almost every year, rendering the old...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy family and I stopped in this store this afternoon, and the selection was amazing. They have everything from comics, reference books, fiction and literature, horror, and biography. They even have a lengthy children's section complete with a collection of little gold books. I was particularly impressed by their large selection of graphic novels. My husband was thrilled by the amount of variety they offer with their vhs, DVD, and record selection. What we were not thrilled by was the blatantly rude way that we were treated by the attendant at the checkout counter. Isaac, who apparently is in training, is seriously lacking in his person to person demeanor. As soon as I walked up to the counter, and placed my selection on it he noticed I had a trio of graphic novels to purchase. He immediately began to growl at me about having a social media account for reference. I blankly looked at him and explained that I didn't understand what he was talking about. Apparently there was a buy 2 get 1 free sale on graphic novels but you had to like their Facebook page in order to get it. I had seen several signs about sales around the store, but didn't see anything printed on them that stated it was for social media only. Regardless, I don't have Facebook, and the sale would only have saved me $5 so I wasn't bothered by it. Isaac however continued to mutter under his breath about the account, and how he couldn't give me the sale price even though I had already told him I wasn't bothered. One of his coworkers even noticed his behavior, and apologized for him with a "sorry for being so rude". But, did nothing to chide or reprimand him. After completing my transaction I quickly collected my bag, and politely requested to have a copy of my receipt only to be bluntly and coldly informed by Isaac that it was in my bag. At which point my husband, and I were about to lose our tempers. So sadly despite their large selection and amazing prices we did not find Wonder book & video very wonderful, and we definitely will not be...
