My wife and I visited Calivence Winery during a weekend getaway in Fredericksburg, and it ended up being the highlight of our trip. We’ve been to a lot of Hill Country wineries over the years, but this one stands out for both its wine and its atmosphere. It’s tucked inside a beautiful old limestone house just off Main Street — upscale enough to feel special, yet casual and comfortable at the same time.
The staff were fantastic — friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. We shared a tasting flight paired with small bites from the kitchen, and everything was perfectly done. The Journey Bordeaux Estate Wine was outstanding — bold, smooth, and full of character. My wife loved the 2023 Pinot Noir, which had great flavor without being heavy. Both easily rank among the best wines we’ve had in the Texas Hill Country.
What really impressed us was the vibe. Calivence manages to be romantic and relaxing, but still fun enough for groups or celebrations. The patio is perfect for enjoying a glass together while listening to live music or watching the sunset.
If you’re planning a Fredericksburg wine tasting weekend, definitely make time for Calivence. Between the amazing wines, the friendly team, and the inviting atmosphere, it’s everything you want in a Hill Country winery — we’ll...
Read moreAbsolutely loved this place! We randomly came upon this place on their soft opening day. The wine was fantastic -- every pour felt thoughtfully crafted and full of flavor. You can really tell the owners put their heart into what they do. It's run by the sweetest couple, and their warmth makes the whole experience feel personal and welcoming.
The tasting was relaxed, not rushed, and they took the time to share stories behind each wine, which made it even more enjoyable. The space itself is cozy and inviting -- the kind of spot where you want to linger with friends or a good conversation.
If you're in the area, definitely make a stop here. Great wine, great...
