First visit here. I've been watching the reviews get better since they opened so the wife and I decided to give it a go. 7/29/24 12:40 PM. We're retired so we opt to dine out when all the working stiffs are supposed to be at work. Just a few booths inside. AC wasn't working and the ceiling unit was leaking evap water into a bucket in the middle of the small dining/ordering area. The table surfaces needed to be wiped down and the floor had debris. Ordering attendant was knowledgeable and attentive to our menu questions. He brought the meals to the table. The condiments provided on the burgers was their mayo based house sauce which we elected to have on the side. After tasting it we opted for the standard ketchup, mustard, and relish. This is only available in condiment packs and was a PIA for 2 burgers, foot long hotdog, and fries. Suggestion is to provide a bulk station to apply these. The two classic burgers were OK at best. No real seasoning detected. The meat in the hotdog contained spices that neither one of us cared for. The chocolate malt was very good as were the waffle fries. We tried it but won't be back. Better options exist for similar cost.
*Note this review was completed without using ridiculous un-discriptive terms like out-of-bounds, OMG, on point, awesome, the bomb, yummy, delish, to die for, do your self a favor, trust me, or kids emojis etc.. Describe the food, service (or lack of) and provide details on the cost/copy of check and include pictures! Is the place clean? No disrespect to the employees but no one cares about the waiter/waitress/clerk names, or if they look like they fell face first into a tackle box. They get changed like underwear and you don't get to pick one. No we don't care about your allergies or the need for gluten free food.

Read moreI ordered the Eats classic burger with bacon, waffle fries, and went back to try out the waffle fry sundae.
I enjoyed the burger, although they forgot the bacon. The pickled red onions are a great little add of sweet and tangy combined with their Eats sauce and cheese.
The waffle fries were fine…nothing special. But considering they are a separate item and didn't come with the burger, my expectations were a bit higher.
So, the waffle fry sundae. I was really interested to try this out. I’ve never had fudge and salted caramel on a fried potato but I have to say the combo works very well. However, the amount of fries you receive in proportion to ice cream seemed way off. I would recommend either adding another scoop of ice cream or significantly reducing the amount of fries because although the combination of everything is great - the scoop of ice cream is gone before you finish half the basket and theres nothing left to keep all of the salt on the fries and from the caramel from pulling all the moisture out of your mouth and leaving you feeling incredibly thirsty. The idea of the waffle fry sundae works but I think the execution needs some tweaking.
I should also mention the staff is friendly. I felt the prices did seem a bit steep.
I think this place is definitely on the right track. There are plenty of other places in Fredericksburg to get burgers and ice cream and things of that nature but Eats Burgers is trying to put their own little stamp on those things with some creativity, which sets them apart. I also think its cool how they support other local places like Freddys and Tillys by incorporating their donuts and ice creams into their menu.
With a few tweaks this place would easily go from 3 to 5 stars....

Eats is in a building that once housed Hardees over 50 years ago. Now it's a fantastic local eatery with a cool retro vibe. But make no mistake, this ain't your daddy's burger joint. This place is on fire!
I ordered the Fried Brussels Sprouts w/ Eats Sauce and the BBB (2 patties, bacon, cheese, bacon jam, eats sauce, onion ring, L&T.) The sprouts were hot, crispy and flavorful. The burger....oh man...my tablemates appeared uncomfortable from my food moans. Delicious!
The burger patties are 1/4 lb each and made from fresh local beef (Seven Hills.) You do not get to specify temperature, but this is standard at burger joints with this style of patty.
We decided to continue our path of gluttony and shared three desserts: Peanut Butter Bliss & Choco Oreo donut sandies and the Loaded Waffle Fries Sundae. Holy moly...watch out waistline! The desserts feature other local businesses: Freddy Donuts and Tilly's Ice Cream. Wow. What a delicious collaboration!
There are several ways to order: drive up service (coming soon) and walk up service. (You will need to utilize the QR code for the drive up service once it is implemented.) Please note, they take credit cards and digital payment (Samsung, Google or Apple Pay,) but not cash so be prepared.
There is limited seating indoors and a patio for outdoor dining. You can also get your order to go or chill and dine in your car like it's 1978.
I can't wait for my next visit. It's going to take some time to work my way through the menu to try it all, but I have the will and the stretchy pants...
