Let me start by saying I'm not a baked goods guy. I'm a meat and potatoes type. But I was oddly in a donut mood Sunday and decided to look at my options for the first time in 3 years of living in Virginia. Dunkin donuts was very close but I was super unimpressed with their variety of donuts given they're literally a donut shop. So I looked at options up to 20 miles away from Stafford where I live and saw Freddy's. Checked the website and fell in love with what I was seeing. Immediately packed my dog up and headed to Fredericksburg. I was too proud to ask prices prior to ordering but I was really hoping they wouldn't be sky high given the specialty nature of the donuts. I got a half dozen for $16 which was awesome because I didn't think it'd be under $18 before taxes, i expected a solid $20. They tasted super fresh and doughy rather than bready, stale, and dry. For $2.25-$2.50 each donut, it's a true steal. It'll be a while before I'm back just because of my initial opening statement BUT when I am finally in a donut mood again, I WILL be back! - Now the negative criticism I will share is the in store menu. I get it, let's have an abstract and abnormal menu that's fun and unique. But I'm 25 and that board served me zero purpose. I didn't understand any of it. Seemed like things randomly written on the wall without much categorization. I couldn't even find the donut prices - for singles , dozens , nothing. Just random coffee drink items and prices. The chalk board is cool and all but I'm just saying that its actual functionality as a menu for new patrons isn't just lacking, it doesn't exist. There might as well have been no menu in store at all with how helpful it was. Again, I'm 25, not 85, so while perhaps eye-pleasing esthetically, it offers little to no information about the products. Mind you, I had a small line ahead of me so scanned the board for 2 minutes and in the end might as well have been looking a pretty pictures to pass time because it neither provided new, clear information, nor enticed me to buy anything besides what I came for. This is stuff I'm mentioning as constructive criticism, I'm still giving 5 stars and returning in the future, not bent out of shape over the menu, just wanted to express my concerns with it and how it may continue to confuse...

I’m giving this place one star. I drove 30 minutes hoping to try something new, but I was immediately disappointed by the service. The woman at the counter was rude from the start—she didn’t greet me or my 9-year-old son like she did with the other customers. When I asked questions, she either ignored me or responded like I was bothering her.
At first, I thought maybe it was just me—but then she forgot to include one of the donuts I ordered. When I came back up to request the missing item (plus another one), her attitude got worse. She tossed the donuts across the counter to the guy at the register instead of simply handing them over, and didn’t even bother to bag them together. She did this both times, which made it clear it wasn’t an accident.
As someone in the military, I’m used to observing my surroundings, and her attitude was off-putting—rude, dismissive, and frankly, it felt borderline racist. I’m not saying she is, but it was noticeable that the other customers before me were greeted warmly and treated with more respect. The donut prices are high and not worth the product or the rudeness from their staff.
I left feeling very unwelcome. Freddy’s Donuts won’t have to worry about me returning. I’ll stick with Texas Donuts—they’re far better in price, quality, and customer service. Their staff is kind and welcoming, and their donuts, cinnamon rolls, twists, and jalapeño cheese kolaches are fresh, fluffy, and delicious.
As for Freddy’s donuts: they were overly thick, not soft or fluffy. The icing was way too sweet and heavy. The cinnamon roll felt like it had been sitting out a while, even if it was technically fresh. The cronut had good flakiness but was ruined by the taste of glaze and overwhelming taste of frying grease—it lingered in the back of my throat no matter what I drank or ate after.
Bottom line: Texas Donuts still holds the crown, and Freddy’s just...
Read moreFirst time here. Place is clean and the staff attentive. Large selection. Dozen purchase was $29.80. WOW! These weren't fancy donuts but they are huge and substantial. A normal full size person will be pressed to consume a whole doughnut. They do taste good but the size overwhelming exceeded the toppings. Not for me as I prefer a smaller lighter doughnut.
*Note this review was completed without using ridiculous un-discriptive terms like out-of-bounds, OMG, on point, awesome, the bomb, yummy, delish, to die for, do yourself a favor, trust me, flavorful, or kids emojis etc.. Describe the food, service (or lack of) and provide details on the cost/copy of check and include pictures! Is the place clean? No disrespect to the employees, but no one cares about the waiter/waitress/clerk names, or if they look like they fell face first into a tackle box. They get changed like underwear and you don't get to pick one. We don't care about your allergies, vibes, how "chill" you feel, or the need for gluten free food.
**If you see a Google review posted with just stars & no text, report it via the 3 dot selection adjacent to the review. If the text in the review doesn't describe the food/service report it. This cleans up Google reviews and removes the slugs just trying to get reviewer points by marking a star or "paid" reviewers.
