I bet we'd be surprised to see the number of people who live in DC that have never been to the Smithsonian's Natural History or the Air and Space Museums. Sadly we often don’t do a lot of the things especially the “sight-seeing” things offered right in our own communities. So raise your hand if you live in the Fredericksburg area and have never taken a Trolley Tour. My hand would have been up until we booked a private tour for a recent family reunion. I don't know how many times during that tour I said "I didn't know that" and "I didn't know that either!" I promise that you will learn a lot of interesting facts and anecdotes about our town that you just can’t Google and you will ask yourself "Why didn't I do this sooner?”. Our trolley conductor was so interesting and never once did it seem that she was merely reciting the same script she had done many times before. Since it is early in the year, trolley tours were offered Friday through Monday. I called to ask when they would start running all week. Heidi asked me when we wanted a tour. I gave her a Wednesday we would be in the area and she opened it up on their website! When we went on the tour it was just us two plus two other people who bought tickets at the visitor center. We only spent one afternoon in Fredricksberg so this 75-minute tour was perfect. Our guide, Jim, was knowledgeable and fun. We learned sooo much, and it was not overwhelming. Jim was exceptional (he's got "da juice. " Just a little joke about his moxy) Parking can be tricky but we did get a spot on the street near the pick-up point.
