Truly abysmal service with next to no communication.
I waited 15 min just to be asked what my name was, then received no further communication for another hour. I waited a total of 1 hour 15 min past the estimated pickup time (2 hours after the order was placed, all for one pizza) before i finally managed to get the attention of one of their staff, and it was not for lack of trying. The take out desk was empty for up to 20 min at a time. There were no managers available, and when there was someone there they'd make every effort to ignore us. I was stuck there with 12 other people not knowing what was happening or how long it would be. They were busy, and thats why I waited as long as did before saying anything, but they didn't show the most basic level of respect for their customers time. Giving a rough eta, or at the very least telling us "we're busy and we don't know how long it will be" is asking the bare minimum and they couldn't even clear that bar. They didn't even give an announcement, to the group as a whole, just absolute radio silence with an air of resentment if someone had the audacity to ask them anything, even if it was there first time talking to them. Im not sure I've seen a more patient group of people. I waited paitently for 40min before I even started trying to get the attention of staff. Nothing but radio silence and a surly tone when I finally did get my food with an added comment from the memeber of staff implying it was my fault for waiting when I told them I had been there for 1 hour 15min and I hadn't received any communcation. I think they had a system down or something, I have no idea, but thats exactly the problem, they never told us anything. Show us the most basic level of respect by acknowledging our presence and if we're required to wait to receive service, tell us as such and give us a rough estimate if possible.
The staff seem to treat avoiding you like its their job. A little bit of communication goes a long way, but this place treats dialouge as though it would kill them. A staggering level of ineptitude on display here. To top it all off, my pizza was cold when I received it, I don't know how they...
Read moreI really don't want to leave a poor review, since I've gotten pizzas here dozens of times before. In the past, Mellow Mushroom pizza crust was always on point and the cheese melted to perfection.
But my last three takeout experiences have soured me on the place, and it sucks because now the only place in town to get a good pie seems to be the one where you have to be okay buying a GIANT pie.
A month or so ago, my takeaway order was really rather thin on the bottom and the cheese pretty dry and overdone. This was the first negative experience, so I chalked it up to an inexperienced cook.
Last week, I ordered takeout. I should have figured with prom season and a Saturday night, there was going to be a wait. The website told me my pizza would take 45 minutes. I arrived on time, and waited. By the time I left, it had been an hour and 40 minutes since I placed my order. The pizza was fine, not the best I had seen from them, but not the worst.
Tonight I think is the last chance I'll give Mellow Mushroom. This pizza left a bitter taste in my mouth, literally. The cheese looked overdone when I picked it up, but I was hungry and my wife and newborn were at home waiting, so I picked up my pie and went home. The cheese being dry and overdone turned out to be an understatement. Really quite poor. To top it off, the underside of the pizza was very, very, dark. Not quite burned to a crisp, but very crunchy and had a bitter, charred taste all over.
Mellow Mushroom, I don't know what's changed recently. Maybe corporate has made you change your ingredients, or maybe your under new management at this location, but things have gone downhill fast. You were an 8/10 pizza place in my book for almost 2 years. In the space of 2 months, you've made Wawa pizzas look like the better option.
Please turn it around. I miss my...
Read moreWent there on a Wednesday, or Thursday around 9. Got lovely service from Elise (which I remember bc that's my name too)! A group of coaches came in and ordered THE MOST food around 9:15/9:30pm. Elise was amazing about it, got all of their food and my food in (I even added to my Togo order and she was very kind about it). Gave the other person in my party a beer even though we were edging on being too late. The food was great! Kept well when we ate the leftovers the next day. Got half mushroom & garlicky pizza (one of their special ones) and half pepperoni, plus cloud 9 wings. She was awesome.
Had to knock off a star bc a couple of weeks later on a wednesday - after checking online and calling to confirm their close time was 10 - got there, place was full, it was maybe 9:05pm when when I was looking for a seat, and before I sat down the bartender said "we already did last call and the kitchen is closed." The entire place was full. That was a bummer - & as a bartender, I get it - but shutting everything down an hour before the quoted close time is a little extreme. (The bartender that time was not Elise) In my experience, last call for alcohol is 45 min before close, with drink and food orders going in until about 30 min prior to close. I'm sure it wasn't the bartenders fault? Maybe it came from management. But it needs to be consistent.
I'll go back, but make sure to go there very early, just to be safe.
Edited to amend: Management responded to my review! Which is very sweet. Their posted hours online now say they close at 9pm, but when you call, their automated message says they close at 10pm. Make sure to check and follow their online hours as that is their...
