Very disappointing coffee experience!

I was excited to visit this small cafe after reading the reviews and seeing the pictures. I arrived at 9am on a Sunday, even though the hours say open at 8am on Sunday. That’s not a big deal.

I ordered a large Americano with 2 extra shots of espresso while waiting for my shawarma. The Americano tasted like regular coffee so I asked for an additional two shots of espresso. While speaking to the lady at the counter she shows me a container of pre ground coffee that she says is espresso. Not one time during my visit did I hear the espresso machine grind any beans!!!

My EIGHT SHOT Americano still tasted like a cup of Folgers coffee. I ended up having to go through the Dunkin’ drive through for a quad espresso to try and improve my original beverage.

Food: Everything I had was delicious, the Karak tea was wonderful and the pastries are light and not overly sweet like you would get at a big retailer which was just right for me and my spouse.

Service: Hands down amazing. Thoughtful, cheerful, a joy to be around. If I could have stayed all day and socialized I would have loved to.

Atmosphere: I worry the location will be difficult for the business to get the traffic it deserves, but they have taken a run down building, cleaned it up and breathed in new life. The work done to the space, the care and attention to detail is very notable. It's very clean and comfortable inside.

Bottom line: Being inside this restaurant feels like a warm hug. The prices are really reasonable for downtown, and everything...

Update: it's been a year since I posted this review. I've been a few times since and on 2 occasions I brought coffee snobs who both said it was the best coffee they've ever had. Very high praise. The service and coffee is just as good as it was a year ago. I hope this place becomes a permanent fixture in downtown ❤️
