2025 update:|We are so disappointed. This is the fourth time we have stayed at The Silk Mill and is likely, unfortunately, to be the final time we stay here. Two stars is generous, but the staff have been lovely, and this is why we are giving more than one.||This is our fourth visit because there is a large amount of parking available, which is perfect for us on our trip. Additionally, the hotel is walking distance from all that we want in Fredericksburg. We were given a room at the start of the corridor, at the top of the stairs. The room itself had no toilet seat in the bathroom, and there is no individual air conditioning which can make the rooms warm and uncomfortable to sleep. Additionally, the curtains did not shut and so the room was still very light when trying to sleep.||However, we had no sleep last night. It was the most unpleasant night we have spent in a hotel, and we have travelled to a number of countries experiencing a number of different hotels and hostels. There was a wedding at the hotel, which has a separate building at the back as a wedding venue. The venue itself did not disturb. Despite this, guests were running up and down the corridors of the hotel shouting at each other, standing in corridors having loud conversations, sitting outside the front of the hotel loudly talking. These were grown adults, not children, surprisingly. We couldn't believe the behaviour. We had no sleep. There seemed to be no attempt to remind wedding guests that the hotel has other, paying, customers. Even a sign may have helped, just as there is a sign saying a private event is happening, but there seemed to be no attempt to minimise noise from staff. Our room was right at the start of the corridor, which is an interesting choice if a number of rooms are being used for a wedding. We understand that there can be noise from other guests in a hotel, but this was far beyond that. We have also stayed in hotels where there have been weddings prior to this and still been able to enjoy our own stay.||The most important thing about the hotels we stay in is that we are able to sleep in order to enjoy our trips. We paid for a place to sleep and, last night, we did not get this. The bed is so close to the door we didn't feel very safe with all the noise. As we would not know if there is a wedding on, we won't risk another horrific night like last night. We found that the covered carpark only charges $8 a day parking and so we will be looking elsewhere next year, and we would recommend this to others considering...

I can't say enough great things about the Old Silk Mill. Before my husband and I got married, we had attended weddings there before and absolutely fell in love with the venue. So when it was our turn to get married (4/2/22), it was a no-brainer. The venue itself has SO much character - you don't need a lot of extra décor or "fluff". Flowers and some simple signs and décor is more than enough to tie everything together. Our wedding party, family members, and some guests stayed on-site at the rooms which was an amazing extra perk! Everyone loved the convenience of having everything in one place (bridesmaids and groomsmen both had separate get-ready suites, hotel rooms for guests, ceremony, cocktail, reception all within walking distance). Aside from the elegance and convenience (as well as location less than 1 mile from downtown Fredericksburg), the staff are all absolutely incredible to work with. I booked my wedding 1.5 years in advance and from the beginning, the day-of coordinator we hired (Sarah Dixon) was AMAZING! She was extremely communicative, had great vendor referrals, and was an amazing resource. You can't go wrong with this venue and DEFINITELY ask for Sarah to be your day-of! She and the rest of the staff made sure we were taken care of the entire day of the wedding - during cocktail hour they brought us drinks and apps while we took pictures, they kept us on schedule, and were so nice and a pleasure to work with. I can't imagine getting married anywhere else. This place is truly...
