Penny's Diner — Restaurant in Fremont

• ATTENTION** My wife and I were there at 10am on Saturday 6/15/24. As we were driving there, we were hoping there wasn't going to be too long of a wait to get seated. As we pulled into the parking lot, there was a woman sitting in front of the entrance on a chair smoking a cigarette. We parked and had to walk around her to enter the glass door into the diner. She yelled back at us as we passed her "You can sit anywhere..." Just as we stepped inside, a homeless looking male walked out and said "I need to go get some change!" We noticed, we were the only patrons inside, and we walked table to table to find a clean one, but couldn't. We chose the least filthy booth. The woman who was smoking finally came inside and got us some room temp coffee. As we sat there, a large spider crawled across our table, so i smashed it with a coffee creamer. The homeless dirty male re-entered the diner and walked into the kitchen. The smoker female and him were the only two employees. Then as we looked at the window sill, there was a massive graveyard of insect carcasses (approx 100+) that looked as if it had been like that for a decade. The floor under our booth was caked in years of dirt and bugs. The blinds had dead bugs on each louver. We still thought maybe we could tough it out. We both ordered the Sunrise Breakfast skillets. Food was soaked in grease, and my wife immediately found a hair (or spider leg in her food) she tried to push past it and keep going, but then I pulled a 6" black hair from my skillet when I was about 1/2 way into it. Both of our stomachs turned. The smoker waitress said "how was your food?" as I was fishing the long hair out from under my food. I replied "Not good, there is hair in our food!" She replied "at least it ain't mine..." I told her I'm disgusted and can't eat another bite. Then she gave us the bill for full amount of $45, and didn't say a word. My wife left her full meal and coffee and I left half a meal and coffee. Someone NEEDS to shut this place down for good!!!!! Maybe they don't...

Terrible food and horrible and overly sensitive wait staff. Our waitress simply abandoned our table because she was offended that our party didn't understand what they had in there menu after being told that several of the items we had asked for would not be available untill the following week. Not only did she never return to our table getting half of our drinks set down all the wrong drinks I might add. My girlfriend after waiting over a half hour walked up to the front to ask about the rest of the drinks and the status of our food was shrugged off and not spoken to further . My girlfriend then offered to help her get food and drinks out to which she slammed the food on the counter and pointed at the drink machine . Unfortunately I would like to say the bad experience ended there but it did not . All of our food was either cold or not edible my burger was so chewy that I could not eat it . My sisters French dip had to be remade twice both times having to be brought to the table by my girlfriend. We were also not the only table that suffered in such a way 2 other tables were served by the hotel manager across the street there meals were also cold or not edible and received no further service from the waitress after getting there drinks. I was so horribly disappointed and disgusted by this experience . My siblings and I are unable to to get together often do to distance and covid so I am saddened that I suggested this place for us to get together and catch up . I will never set foot her again and will never suggest this place to anyone else I understand that covid has affected many aspects of the dining experience but one thing that should never change is how you treat your patrons or how the quality of the food and services you...

I was so excited to try this place! We weren't the only ones in the restaurant but I do think we were the only customers. My spouse ordered a bacon lovers burger and it only came served with one piece of bacon. He also ordered chili cheese fries which he didn't get. My son ordered a chili cheese burger and regular fries but got a huge plate full of burger and fries all drowning in chili. My daughter ordered a Philly and got served cold, dried out roast beef on a bun, no fries. I ordered a Frisco burger and tots and got a very small over cooked to hard to eat burger between 2 large pieces of extremely toasted bread. No mayo, and oh no tots! When we asked the waitress about the sides she brought out 1 basket of fries for 2 people to share, we asked about the other order of fries and we were told the basket was enough for 2. She had forgotten my tots and had to drop them and when they came it was seriously an overwhelming amount all cooked to a crispy texture hard to chew. We had also ordered fried pickles and for some reason half were regular and the other half were spicy... my spouse tried picking the hard outer part of my burger off so I could eat something at least but 3 bites in and I was in their bathroom throwing up what little food I was able to eat! We could tell the girl waiting on us was also cooking our food and she seemed nice but a bit off. We honestly were afraid to complain about the food because she looked on the verge of a melt down! While I was being sick my husband just paid the bill so we could get the hell out of there! Sadly not even the ambience will ever get me to go back there! The food was the worst food I've ever paid to...
