Heres the deal: Angela's is at the site of the old DiCiccos restaurant that we have all avoided for the last 10 year or so. What is now very important; DO NOT AVOID THIS RESTAURANT ANYMORE! My husband and I first went here this past Saturday in the Hope's of finding a decent restaurant for our family to visit. When you walk in you know there is something different, and that is how clean this restaurant now is. I don't know about you, but when I see a clean restaurant I get happy!! We were told to sit any where we like by a very cheerful waitress, then our menus were given promptly to us after sitting. First off the menu has things that I never anticipated to see there, and all of it looked amazing. The thing is though I was craving something very specific; a meat ravioli with an alfredo sauce with mushroom, and then baked with mozzarella cheese. This wonderful idea I have is no where to be seen on the menu, so I asked our waitress if this can be made. After talking about it with the chef I am told not a problem!! So that is my order, while my husband got a calzone. The bread here is nothing short of pillowy goodness, its warm and chewy when you bite into it. Everything you want from your bread rolled into a slice, topped with actual butter. About 10 minutes later our food arrives, and I felt I had went to heaven with the smell alone!! My husband's calzone was the size of a small mountain, topped with cheesy goodness, while mine was prettily dressed on a oval plate. When my husband first cuts into his calzone I am waiting to see if the size will now decrease, and it doesn't! That mountain size is true to the amount of fillings it holds, which left me with a mouth open from shock! Then I turn my attention to my plate, and excitement is running though my mouth with anticipation!! I cut the ravioli in half to take a look; I see fresh basil along with pancetta, meat, and cheese. This is the first surprise as it looks to be a fresh ravioli! Sure enough it was, and it was just dancing in my mouth!! I go back for more, this time I want the mushrooms too! The mushrooms are a very good size, and plentiful!! The mushrooms in their yummy goodness pairs like a dream with all the tummy goodness that my plate has to offer. My husband was equally pleased with his plate, and the leftovers he has for the next day. We then decided we must take our 15 year old son to dinner here, as he is the true test of any restaurant. We went back last night, and the whole process repeats its self. This time I ask the waitress what is your best dish. My son orders the lasagna plate, my husband gets the favorite pasta without the tomato, and I get the Whitties Pasta. We are first brought out the bread, and the teenager went bananas on it!! We then got a surprise order of the Garlic Bread, and we just looked at it with our mouths open!! My son has 3 pieces, then declares he must wait till his dinner comes. I also have a piece of this magical bread, but then I remember the serving size is large. Then the meals arrived about 10 minutes later, and pleased we were again. My son declares this is the best lasagna he has ever had, which is saying something! My husband's plate looked so good that I stole a bite, and it had me wishing I had ordered that to begin with! Then mine arrives, and wow!! The first thing that happened is my son takes a piece of the beautifully grilled chicken, then declares he has to because it looks so good. I then take a bite and find he is right. The plate of pasta in front of me is a beautiful thing indeed!! This restaurant is truly a hidden gem in the Fresno community. As someone who's been a number of places I can say that this is one of the best Italian Restaurants I've ever been too. Thank you Angela for making pasta...
Read moreI'm so sorry to say that I didn't enjoy my meal. I want to give it a three but refuse to damage their scores too much. I should have gone with pizza or tried Whities pasta. My nieces enjoyed their meals. My sister and I did not. She ordered the chicken Alfredo. I ordered favorite pasta. It was very bland with way too much sauce. My sister returned hers for a pizza. I saved my for lunch. I added ranch and it was better. My hubby and my brother in law both had Angela's pasta. My hubby's pasta was bland with heavy sauce. He said he liked it. He put a lot of Parmesan cheese in it. I just couldn't. Salt and pepper flakes couldn't fix my pasta. I lost my appetite. Bruchetta was good. My other niece had a sausage pizza that was good.
Mom ordered soup, chicken wings, and something else. Unsure how she felt about it.
I do apologize for saying, but the service was lacking a little. No one asked if about refills if they did it wasn't for a long time. I could have sworn my brother in law asked for a refill. They didn't clean our table as we were done. I was serving cake surrounded by dirty please with little room to work. The staff are pleasant and professional. I'm just accustomed to better service. The bathroom hall is eery and the bathroom had a weird smell but it was clean with soap. I only washed my hands anyway.
We spent $84 can't remember if that was...
Read moreWe came around 7:30 with a rather large party. They gave us plenty of time to decide on what we wanted. The food wasn't rushed out. We didn't have to wait a long time for the food. But long enough that we know that everything was made fresh. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal. Our server was not overly friendly, but polite and professional she did her job well you can tell she was a seasoned server. It was a birthday dinner, weren't rushed out. I happened to notice some other patrons of the restaurant who I know. They own another Italian restaurant in town. Tells you a lot about the quality of food when someone owns an Italian restaurant but they come to this one. I had the pollo calzone it's made with an alfredo sauce on the side. It was a big portion and loaded with sauteed chicken, mozzarella, mushrooms and bell peppers. It was delicious. From what I could see from my friends plates. One ordered the stuffed eggplant with rigatoni. They said it was fantastic. Another ordered the Whitey's. Named after Whitey's pets I believe. It was grilled chicken & spaghetti with a alfredo sauce I believe. It looked really good. I was so hungry I didn't take pictures everything looked fantastic. And they give you a huge portion. Everything was very modestly priced. I highly recommend this restaurant. And I look forward to coming back again and trying more...
