Tried El Niño (Birrieria & Taqueria) for the first time. Walk-in, see the counter and the cooks behind the counter with doing what they do best on the grill in their open style kitchen. There menu seemed eclectic to me. I could make out some Spanish words but not allow them and so the food items seemed authentic to me.
The one thing that I compare to each Mexican food spot is their tacos. Whether it is street tacos (mini corn tortillas), soft taco (flour tortillas) or crunch fried taco shell, I will try it.
I got the 3 raco entree. Different meats to fill the taco (Carne Asada, Chicken and Goat). All three had their distinctive essence and all where delicious. Their beans were flavorful and the rice was a little bland despite having some remnants of oil remaining on the plate as I beat it up. The service of the staff was professional and friendly, getting anything I needed or wanted with my meal. They tended to my needs asking every so often if I needed more drink or anything else.
The experience and the ambiance was good for a lunch meal. Unfortunately, they had no supportive ways to provide a discount to Military or Veterans. I will have to give a 4 stars rating...

I only give four stars because the waitresses need to learn to do more than take the order and leave for goodness knows how long. Or maybe wipe a table down better since most of the time they just seemed to stand near the front. I get it, they see a lot of people I'm sure, but they certainly seemed to hate their jobs. It didn't kill our experience of the place because you go for the food not the service, so I would still go back for sure but with lowered expectations...

If you're craving birria that actually tastes like it was made with care and tradition, this is the place. The broth was rich, flavorful, and perfectly spiced—not oily, just right. The meat was tender and juicy, and the handmade tortillas were soft, fresh, and honestly made the whole meal even better.
The restaurant is colorful, clean, and full of charm—from the flowers and decor to the friendly atmosphere. It feels welcoming without trying too hard. You can tell they take pride in what they serve and how they present it.
This was easily one of the best birria bowls I’ve had in Fresno. I left full, satisfied, and already thinking about...
