Mediterranean Grill & Cafe — Restaurant in Fresno

If I could give this place no stars, I definitely would. My friends and I have been to this place many times and today was the first time we had ever been mistreated at this restaurant. The owner is extremely rude. We usually leave tips, but today they took almost 30 minutes to bring our food. Since we were on our lunch hour we asked the waitress if she could put our food in containers to go and bring us the tabs. She brought our food and as we waited for the waitress to bring our tabs, we started to eat. Once tabs were paid, we took a couple more bites when the owner came to our table and with a very nice tone asked if she could cash our tabs. We told her we had already done so, at which time, her tone of voice and attitude changed. She told us that next time they would not be able to bring our food out in to go containers and us eat there. They would have to bring our food out in regular plates and then when we were ready to go they would bring out the to go containers. She said our food was brought out in the to go containers because we had said we had to go. Which we never said. My friend told the owner that they had taken about 30 minutes and this is why we asked the waitress if we could have our food in to go containers. At which time, the lady told my friend with an aggressive tone "THAT'S NOT TRUE, THAT NOT WHAT THE TICKET SAYS." She basically called us lairs. My friend told her that just because the ticket says something, doesn't mean we are not saying the truth. I was humiliated by the way she told us we weren't allowed to eat there in the to go containers and that she also said it in front of other customers. Its not like they needed the tables to sit others, there was no waiting line and there were plenty of empty tables around us. I had never been treated so poorly and would never expect this from any owner...what a shame! I was more embarrassed. Just because of this treatment and humiliating experience my friends and I are never going back. Between all four of us we paid almost $60.00 and to be treated this way, no thanks! PHOENICIAN GARDENS IS MY NEW FAV AND I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT FOR A MORE PLEASANT EXPERIENCE! This used to be my favorite place to eat until the monster came out of one of the owners. She’s rude to say the least. The one that’s usually at the register screaming at her staff and treating customers like garbage- yeah, she’s slim with the long curly hair. The staff is awesome though. Props to them, very efficient and the Hispanic lady with curly hair who usually has a bun is super- super nice. Maybe she should teach her boss some manners. The gentlemen who I think are also owners also very nice, the older lady who is sometimes there she’s darling- yes this place has good reviews but the bad should also be noted. If I request my food a certain way it is only fair that the request is honored as I am paying for it- right? Well, apparently this got this lady furious. She decided to scream at me in front of other customers. But it’s okay because what you do to people comes back to you. I love their food when it’s made to order and right. This cafe, by contrast? It delivers real, immediate value and shows care in every detail. UC Davis should’ve been the same kind of place—but it wasn’t. It drained motivation, buried critical problems, and left me questioning my investment.
