This was my first time back at Texas Roadhouse since moving back to TX. I used to work at one back in 2010 and was anticipating going here for dinner. I went with my boyfriend and it was wasn't what I thought it would be.
The rolls were baked very well, and had a nice crust on top. We ordered the grilled shrimp for our app and both got an 8 oz filet mignon. My boyfriend got STEAMED* vegetables and mashed potatoes. My sides were a house salad (probably the best thing besides the rolls and my boyfriend says the shrimp (I did not want to try one)) and a sweet potato.
*This asterisk is here because it was in fact steamed for maybe 3 seconds. His carrots were crunchy and ashy. What's up doc?
Fast forward to our steaks coming THE FIRST TIME. RAW. I'm talking raw. Like he cut into his and it was RED and RAW. Mine was RAW and.. RED...... We ordered medium rare. It got sent back. Came back with a cowboy manager I say cowboy manager because he did not seem that interested in food service but rather looking like a cowboy. When I cut into my steak, firstly it was already cut in the middle but I cut the left side of it and it.. was.. RARE. He saw that it was rare and had asked me if I wanted it to be sent back......... again... FOR THE SECOND TIME. I declined and my boyfriend ate his, his was medium rare had some rare parts towards the outside like mine but mine was entirely rare. I was so let down by this experience, I lost my appetite. OH, I forgot to mention when we sent back our steaks the first time, we gave back our steaks and I kept my plate that had my steak and potato and gave the steak on the side plate. When the cowboy manager came by and gave us our "revised" steaks, I'm not sure if he saw my sweet potato soaking in the BLOOD and JUICES from my old steak but he didn't even offer me a new one or asked if I wanted a new one. I had to ask our waiter if we could get my meal comped. And it was. The waiter (Xavier) he was able to get it comped and said that a new manager would come over. Maybe, this new manager will come one day. We didn't meet. Not saying it was Xavier's fault, but I don't think it was. I also showed Xavier my sweet potato and was able to bring one home minus the blood and juices.
I am a DIE HARD pretty much a DIE HARD TX Roadhouse fan. And I can say this truly ruined the experience for me. I don't think I'll be visiting this location again.
UPDATE: My husband went and did a curbside pickup… The picture is what he got for a medium steak. We tried to give them another chance. Didn’t happen. Also they gave us rolls...
Read moreBy the picture correct me if I’m wrong is this medium? The server Xavier arguing with me that’s medium & the GM Oscar that simply did not apologize or care of what I had to say about the service tonight. After being at Pappas Restaurants for over a decade along chef McCloskey, Gaspard, Vilardi to name a few so I know that my expectations are always a bit high when it comes to restaurants but this has got to be the most ridiculous terrible service I’ve ever had anywhere. I have came here numerous times never have had a complaint they can even check the records. Tonight took over 10 min to simply get greeted by the server Xavier which already a red flag. We place our order salad gets brought out but we have no silverware. The food has not yet arrived it’s past 30 minutes when looking for the server I see him talking his life away with the bartender until they notice I’m looking for him. Another server brings the food as soon as we get it the steak is rare not medium how I ordered it. No big deal it happens. But the fact when I alert Xavier and he automatically blames the kitchen basically washing his hands that it’s not his fault. That is something you don’t do. Again another 15 minutes pass by we ask for a manager multiple times until he brings the steak and as soon as I explain my service they bring another steak different than what Oscar had given me with the excuse we mixed them up. I’m explaining to Oscar giving him the feedback about the service tonight he is giving me the restless I don’t care face and instead of apologizing he just asks me to cut the steak. Mind you this steak is burnt and dry I cut in the middle which is common sense and it’s well done! He argues that I need to cut on the sides and not even that’s medium it’s medium well! At this point I’m over it tell him it’s fine it is what it is. By that conversation with Oscar he does not care about the guest experience he is not what a GM is supposed to be. Xavier comes and ask “how is that medium steak” I tell him look this is not medium it is what it is let’s move on he argues multiple times it’s medium that even now my wife gets involved as well saying that is not medium he says well you know what I’m sorry. This is ridiculous unacceptable not sure how Texas Roadhouse will take this but here’s my 2 cents thank...
Read moreWe went out for my husband's birthday dinner and while I try to find the positive in every situation, this was a very disappointing visit. The server was nice enough but there were lots of gaps in service. The food was fine (I thought the prices were fair for the quality) but nothing outstanding. And most importantly, different tables were getting different treatment
A few specific things Our drink orders were taken and we were still waiting for menus. The waiter came back and asked if we had made a decision of what to eat. When I mentioned that we were waiting for menus, he showed us that the menus were sitting on the far edge of the booth against the wall behind the condiments. That caused an unnecessary 10-minute delay to an already lengthy wait.
More and more things kept getting served to our table but our dishes were not cleared at no point during the evening, including even before dessert. So I'm trying to take pictures of us singing happy birthday with huge pile of dirty dishes in front of us. This also means that drinks were not refilled, and the waiter was basically short-handed the entire evening other than the most basic visit to get the order and serve the order.
I mentioned twice when we walked in and sat down to the hostess and the waiter separately, That we were there to celebrate a birthday. I mentioned it again a third time when they asked about dessert, that of course we wanted dessert to celebrate a birthday. There was no pomp and circumstance which would have been fine except as we were leaving, we saw all the waiters and waitresses gather around another table to loudly sing. Happy Birthday. It was very embarrassing and demoralizing as my kids are asking, why didn't they do that for our table?
The food was nothing amazing but nothing was terrible either. But if you order a baked potato with trimmings, you are expected to put the trimmings on the potato. And similar type of DIY. Price was pretty ok and I'm glad they didn't overcharge because then the food rating would have definitely gone down...
