Medio is great if you enjoy high-end, single-origin coffees that are lighter in roast. I overheard someone around town complaining that this place is not very “island”, which made me laugh. Given the coffee situation around here, I would count that as a selling point. Don’t get me wrong, some of the other shops are really quaint, but most of them serve really dark roasts that just taste burnt.
If you want a vanilla latte with notes of ashtray, by all means go to the multitude of other shops around town. But if you want a bright, perfectly brewed pour over coffee by a barista who knows what they’re doing and will make an effort to remember your name, then Medio is your best bet. They also serve great cold brew coffee and matcha. Their syrups are house made and not sickly sweet.
As far as food, they don’t have a very big menu, and it usually rotates. I’ve tried the frittata and the dragonfruit açaí bowl, both were really good. Their house made donuts are irresistible.
Their hours are a little spotty. In fact, this is probably my only gripe about the place. I figure if you can catch them open, then you should definitely...
Read moreCute cafe inside a hotel. They have indoor and outdoor seating and tons of kids toys to play with outside so family friendly. I had the breakfast burrito, and ugly donut, and a honey lavender matcha latte for breakfast. The donut was big but a little too doughy and bland in flavor. Tons of sugar on the outside but somehow still lacking in flavor. My kid didn't even finish it and she loves donuts with sugar lol. Breakfast burrito was delicious. Big portion and filling. Like that it came with a side of hot sauce. Oh we also had the kimbap which was not bad but nothing spectacular that I've had at Korean restaurants. The honey lavender matcha was delicious though. Love their technique and the matcha is legit.
Came back another day just for another drink. This time I got the strawberry matcha and my husband got the strawberry hojicha latte. Highly recommend both! The hojicha was earthy, smooth and so delicious. Definitely a must try if you're on San...
Read moreVery simple but high quality food. We got an ugly donut and a breakfast chorizo burrito. The donut is a warm sweet doughy perfection.. Haven't had anything like it before. It wasn't over the top, just right in the ammount of sweetness to salty. The burrito on the other hand tasted slightly plain but there was no grease, no mess and more importantly I didn't feel bad after eating it. It was a very simple, healthy and superbly executed burrito. No complaints. This place is slightly pricey but you are on an island, paying extra costs for everything. It's about right when factoring inflation. 3.50 for the donut. 13 for the burrito. Also, water is avaliable self serve. The only other thing I'd like to add is the inside is beautifully designed. It's inside a hotel lobby, but Medio is a...
