Disappointing Experience at Sweet Retreat and Espresso

I had a thoroughly unsatisfactory visit to Sweet Retreat and Espresso today. The issues began when I received a drink that was simply horrible - undrinkable, in fact. When I politely requested that they remake it, the staff refused.

But it gets worse. Instead of offering any kind of solution or even a refund, they proceeded to throw away the drink right in front of me! This level of wastefulness and disregard for customer satisfaction is shocking.

The staff's attitude was dismissive and unapologetic throughout the entire interaction. There was no attempt to understand my concerns or make things right.

I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone looking for quality beverages or decent customer service. Save your money and time - there are plenty of other cafes in the area that actually care about their customers and the products they serve.

This is my go to breakfast spot almost every morning. Dave has been doing this long enough that it seems second nature to him. I usually get an americano and a breakfast sandwich for about $8-$9, which is great pricing here on the island. They will make pretty much whatever you ask for, which is one of the reasons to come back again & again. Their burger (served up on texas toast) is the best in town, I get mine loaded with all the trimmings and jalapenos... delicious. They also offer all fruit smoothies, a variety of shakes and delicious ice cream. It may look unassuming, but this is a hidden gem on San Juan Island, if I could rate it more than 5...

Spent 3 day weekend in Friday Harbor. First day wife and I needed a take out lunch for traveling the island not knowing what food options would be during Covid. Picked up a Carmel macchioto and 2 turkey bacon sandwiches on chibata bread. Service was great, owner and his daughter helping him on a Saturday. Fun personalities. Sanwhiches fresh, large and a great value for the money. Coffee fantastic.

Went back next morning for meat breakfast sandwich, coffee, sausage cheese and potato sandwich. Again wife and I loved the food, very filling and great taste. Owner is fun and engaging and obviously he knows everyone. Locals love...
