We stopped here for lunch on a Saturday. It was about 1:00 and fairly busy. Sandwiches are made to order and they have several choices from their menu or you can opt for a custom made sandwich. If you never ate here you fill out an order slip when you go in and place it on the right side of the counter under this little block of wood. This lets the staff who were about 3 in total on our visit be freed up to build the sandwiches and get people checked out. Grab a bag of chips which there are many to choose from. We had the Turkey club and the grinder. Both were very fresh tasting and good size. They have a nice selection of canned and bottled drinks including some alcoholic drinks such as lagers and sparkling wines. This place does not have seating but there are plenty of outdoor seating benches located throughout the downtown area and we found one just on the corner. All in all if you are looking for deli style sandwiches this would be highly...
Read moreThis place had a very odd vibe. It's like the staff has a "no speak" policy. No one in my party had a clue how to order items from the menu (there is a paper there to "build your own" sandwich, but we didn't feel like going through all that, just wanted a menu item) and all the staff kept their eyes glued to their work, carefully avoiding eye contact! I finally circled "sandwich" on the paper, thinking someone would have to at least open their mouth and ask me what kind of sandwich I wanted. I was wrong; they silently came forth with a veggie wrap, which took about 15 minutes to make, was super overpriced, but tasted good. They need some serious training in friendliness and customer service. If you're determined to remain mute, I suggest that you add the menu items to your order paper. Never going...
Read moreAsk a local where to find a good sandwich in Friday Harbor, AND at a fair price, and they'll tell you: "Go to the Spring Street Deli". They make both hot and cold sandwiches and the ingredients are high quality. I ordered a turkey with provolone on wheat bread and it was amazing! They make a great grilled cheese sandwich with wonderful gooey, real cheddar cheese. It was absolutely delicious. There's a lot of choices on the menu -- pretty much a sandwich for every taste. Oh, they bake fresh cookies everyday too...which i found to be highly addictive. This place had everything needed for a really great lunch. They're open every day from 11am to 4pm. Highly...
