We were not greeted as soon as I thought, due to only 2 patrons. The " hostess" started off nice enough. I had asked for sliced tomatoes on the whole pizza and we received less than a handful of finely chopped tomatoes. When I asked her, do you not have slice tomatoes? She said, oh, did you ask for them? I said, yes, I did and she looked at me with a cold, hard stare and said, do you want me to get them now? I didn't want to be rude so I told her, no, that's okay, but yet she charged an extra four dollars and fifty cents for them!. We also had ordered a half and half pizza with canadian bacon, and sausage on one side and only pepperoni on the other side. Which is what we got with a ton of greasy cheese mostly in the middle. It was actually so much I had to scrape some off. But we were charged an extra eight dollars for extra canadian bacon, which we did not order. But we didn't receive either. I told the person that paid the bill to go back in and speak with her, and she did not feel up to it. I offered to do it myself and was told no not to cause a scene. I would like to understand how we got charged an extra twelve dollars and fifty cents for neither items that we had received.? Out of three of us, we will not go back. And it's unfortunate because we visit that area often. The back patio is cute with all the plants but I didn't think it was very clean. The " server" was not friendly when we left. And side note: her long hair needs to be pulled back or pinned up! Waste of money, not good & I'm being generous...
Read moreThis place is a rising star. They make great pizza. Now I totally get it, this is where pizza reviews are subject taster's discretion. By no means am I a New York pizza fanatic or classically trained Chi-Town pizza consumer, but I know what I love.
Van Go's has a flavorful, medium-weight crust. When you bite into it you know it's there, you appreciate its texture. It's not too flimsy but it's not crisp either, it's a two hand or fold-in half crust experience.
They have a broad range of pizzas, from classic pepperoni-like pizzas to the more eccentric pear and goat cheese variety.
Above all, the atmosphere is very relaxing, warm, inviting, group and child friendly and a great place for a pizza and beer of about...
Read moreWe got the margherita pizza and the greens salad for takeout. Salad was good, though it had a bit too much cheese. Pizza was very okay. Dough was thin but didn't rise at the crust, so it was only slightly better than a frozen pizza in that regard. The pizza also looked sloppily put together, and flavors were just all right. It was odd to see chopped basil (instead of full basil leaves) on a margherita -- so you didn't really get the full essence of basil. Perhaps this quality is great for the island, but it's not worth visiting again, and wouldn't be rated as highly on the mainland. On a positive note, the staff were friendly, and the place was super cute, with plenty of street parking in the...
