Went here Monday, July 3, 2023, at 1 p.m. I liked the ambience, large dining area, no line, no prompt for a tip at the cash register, and the plates undersides are hollow so I could hide all the cellophane from the forks and crackers.
Not so great was the cashier did not ask if I wanted lettuce and tomato on my croissant. My friend went to the other cashier and she asked him so he had it and I went back and got some. One can also get provolone cheese, but it, too, is not on the menu board.
They gave me five packs of crackers, but set them on my plate upside down - they should have placed the logo facing up. Also, chicken salad goes better with bread than crackers.
The menu signage is confusing the first time. The main offering is called "The Chick" - meaning a scoop or sandwich plus either another scoop, a side, or a cup of soup. The sandwich means two pieces of bread or a croissant, so it seems one should always choose the sandwich, assuming the amount of chicken salad is the same. They don't say what kind of bread. A note at the bottom says this excludes their signature sandwiches, but this is indented under the "Plus one of the following" yet a sandwich is not one of the plus one items. I am tempted to redesign the menu for them to make it more sensible.
The summer Dill special should be at the bottom of the board of flavors, not barely visible under "Something Special."
The broccoli salad was good. The grape salad mostly grapes in sweet vanilla yogurt. They included a free Buttercream Frosted Flower Cookie, usually $1.99, but it was rather dry and with 170 calories so I kind of wish they hadn't.
As for the chicken salad, not much mayo so that was good, but very ground up, and I prefer it a little chunky. I had Classic Carol, Lemon Basil, Fancy Nancy, and Dill-icious, and they were all ok, but no "wow" taste. I would have spelled this last one Dill-licious rather than removing the "l" from the second syllable; "icious" begins with ic, like "ick."
Lastly, their logo is a skinny woman with a basket floating hanging from her elbow which is misleading as this is a very high calorie meal, at least 1,400 calories before your drink. I fell asleep when I got home.
I think they need to tweak a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMcKinney location. Put in order today. Simple. 2 classic Carol sandwiches and 2 pasta salad sides. Order in at approx 11:34am. To Go. Waited and waited and waited. The workers seemed disorganized and not enough employees to handle the lunch rush. After seeing 3 people get their orders and leave (that were behind me in line). I asked about my order. The guy went in the back kitchen area and came out with my order. Seemed to me my order had been misplaced or maybe just missed altogether. He told me āwe had large order of 50 before meā⦠which didnāt make since⦠3 people behind me got their order before me. I didnāt cause a scene just took the order and left (40 minutes after I ordered). The sandwiches seemed thrown together the pasta salad was sparse. Sad⦠because this experience was nothing like my previous experiences. Iām thinking the McKinney location needs some attention to the detail of what I seemed to recall past experiences with chicken salad chick⦠unless theyāve just let their store in McKinney go without proper supervision. Lastly, itās like the guy didnāt even hold himself or the food vendor accountable for the poor service⦠just handed me my food as if to say⦠hereās your food⦠bye. Okay⦠bye bye chicken...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUPDATE May 2023: Much better visit than 1st time. They have their act together; either hired more people, work more efficiently or not so many customers. But order taken and food served promptly. Well done. Be back again sooner than later. Also with southwest senorita meal special. Make it a regular menu item. Very good. Mar 2023: Nobody Goes There Anymore, It's Too Crowded (maybe said by Yogi Berra). But that describes first visit for weekday lunch. The place was slammed. Not so many dining in as there empty tables but the take-out crowd put them well behind the power curve. Benefit of the doubt just open a couple of weeks so everyone wants to try the new place in Frisco. The only other locations is over in McKinney which has been operating for several years. After 40 min wait we got our food. By time we finished about 1:30pm the rush was over and service was getting faster. Growing pains. Next we go and we are fans of the menu maybe try later. If they are having problems with staff get it fixed sooner than later. That way I give it 5 stars as the McKinney location. I posted a bunch of photos on interior. BTW: if arriving from south get yourself to Legacy Dr and come in through the parking lot and avoid...
