Unfortunately, we won’t be back. This used to be our date night restaurant, but this last visit was horrible. We tried the seafood stuffed mushroom appetizer for the first time. Pictures on google and yelp show 4 whole mushrooms overflowing with seafood stuffing. Our appetizer came with two regular sized mushrooms cut in half with about ½ teaspoon of stuffing in each. There was no seafood in the stuffing or sauce. We paid $15. That means we both ate a $7.50 mushroom. It was puzzling that they would present this to a customer, but we thought maybe it was a fluke. We ordered the seabass special (which we have had several times before) and the lobster mac and cheese (which was a first). These were both specials and not on the menu. The server just tells you the specials without giving you a price or clear description. The seabass was good and cost $46. The lobster mac and cheese was horrible. It was a bowl of dry pasta with greasy cheese sauce (not creamy but grainy) and a bunch of melted mozzarella on top. There was one very small dry broil lobster tail on the top. After tasting the pasta, I asked the server if there was any lobster in it. She said NO. She told me that they use to put the lobster in the pasta but now they just set the tail on top. I asked her how much it cost and she told me $47! I was shocked that they would present this as a lobster mac and cheese because there was no lobster in it. It was a bowl of cheese pasta with a side of 4oz lobster tail. The server actually argued with me, telling me it was inflation (you can get this size lobster tail at Kroger for $9 - $12) and the amount of lobster was the same, it was just served on top. After reading many reviews and looking at pictures of the dish online, I now know that to be a lie. Pictures and reviews said the pasta had large chunks of lobster in it with an additional tail on top. I have never sent back a dish before, but I had to for $47. It was not edible. She reluctantly took the plate back and eventually came back out to tell us that they would not charge us. Unfortunately, a manager never came to the table to apologize or explain. Basically, if you come to this restaurant, don’t order anything real expensive and be prepare mediocre dishes. They use to be better; I’m not sure what happened. They should be embarrassed to serve customers those meals at that price. If you can’t afford to make it properly, don’t...
Read moreI'm disappointed to say this, because we've been in the past and the experience was great. However, I finally had a date night with my spouse and we came here. Mistake. I don't know if ownership has changed, or desperate times have changed their standards, but it was not a good experience. Though the staff were for the most part, friendly and the atmosphere was ok, the dining experience itself was terrible. We ordered an appetizer (Fried Ravioli served with Blue Cheese dressing). It came with marinara. We inquired "where is the blue cheese dressing?" The manager looked puzzled. "You want blue cheese with it?", he asked. Yes? It said it comes with blue cheese right? He still looked puzzled. We showed him the menu. He hustled away mumbling. Back he came with a large bowl of blue cheese dressing, and walked away. The ravioli were AWFUL. Not kidding when I tell you they tasted like rotten milk. Nevermind the blue cheese OR the marinara. It was so bad, we set the whole thing aside and decided to wait for our mains. We ordered the salmon and the Cape Cod dishes (scallops and shrimp over pasta). The salmon was way overcooked. Bone dry. The Cape Cod was drowning and I mean DROWNING in sauce. Sadly, the fish ALL tasted 4 days old and was most definitely frozen beforehand. The smell of the seafood (not a pleasant fresh smell you would expect) when they set it down on the table was overwhelming. We muddled through our main course and felt so disappointed. When we had been before (easily a year earlier) we had such a nice experience. This time our server would forget us for long periods. (there were only 5 covers in the place while we dined...so no excuses!) Our food was sub-par at best. It was like they had let the quality completely slide. I said "I'd hate to see what's going on in that kitchen...I don't even want to know". If you don't even know your own menu? If you are drowning pasta and seafood in sauce so that your patrons don't smell the old (clearly previously frozen) fish you are serving? Might be time to reassess. $60 out the door for 2 is a nice meal for us. Wish it had actually been "nice" so the money spent and the sitter we paid had been worth it. Very disappointed. ...
Read moreThis small, but nice Italian restaurant is better than a comparably priced Italian chain corporate restaurant like Carrabas, OLIVE Garden, or Macaroni Grill. From my experience, big corporate chain restaurants don't have the good homemade from scratch food that privately-owned, family owned, or other independent restaurants proudly serve. I do believe in supporting a "Mom and Pop" (non corporate chain) business whenever I get good service and value for the money. My only complaints are that the Dr Pepper from their soda fountain is not calibrated correctly, it tasted like carbonated seltzer water and not like a good soda. For every 5 ounces of cold carbonated water, there should be 1 ounce of postmix fountain syrup added for a total of 6 ounces of a certain drink, be it COKE, Sprite, Root Beer, etc. There was like ½ ounce of syrup per 5 ounces of carbonated water! To pay $3 or more for a soft drink, I want it to have the correct ratio for the right taste. Also, the toilet in the restroom is not in good repair; the chain between the rubber flapper valve and the flush handle is missing. You literally must open the toilet tank, and lift up the flapper valve manually to flush, and get your hand wet in the process. To the owner: I very much liked the food, atmosphere, music, and my server. Have a Coca Cola soda fountain technician adjust the syrup to carbonated water ratio until it's correct, if COCA COLA owns the soda fountain unit you use. Alternatively, read the owners manual to your soda fountain unit if it's a restaurant asset, and get a soda ratio test kit, and use it on a regular basis. Remember that the customer is the final inspector, and it's in your best interest to read your...
