I'm going to start off by saying that I used to own a restaurant, so when I post this review, I'm not happy about it, but I do this with honesty, and the truth.
We had this place on our radar and were really looking forward to this dinner.
As a former owner, I know we were cordial but vocalized our concerns along the way, respectfully, trying to ensure the server knew of our problems so he could address them. We were upset but never rude. Unfortunately, nothing to rectify any of our issues occurred.
This has to be the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant.
First, it took over 10 minutes to be greeted. When you are $50-$100 per person, I expect better.
When we finally ordered, a large table was getting up, and the table was broken into two other tables. In total, 7 other tables were sat AFTER we ordered. That's important for later.
Our server told us they were out of bread, and the kitchen was making more. No problem, that happens. 10, 15 minutes later, we asked our server to check on the bread. He said there still was none. Then we watched 4 other tables receive bread, and all still had their menus still.
When we brought this to our server's attention, he blamed the other servers as vultures, hovering over the bread until it was out again. I pointed out that it doesn't matter, as he has to be on the lookout for us, as our server. I'm appreciative of the fact that other tables were being taken care of.
After that second notification, we finally got 2 pieces of bread. What we got was delicious.
Then we waited. We watched all seven tables receive their appetizers and/or salads. Then, one by one, four tables got their food.
When we (we brought it up, not our server), he said it was coming. This would be the time to check on our ticket, but I don't think that occurred.
One more table got their food. We are now approaching over an hour and a half without food. I had to call the server over again to ask what was going on and that this was unacceptable.
He told us the kitchen lost the ticket, but they were working on it, saying it was going to be 15 minutes. We agreed to wait because we understand that sometimes things just go wrong. Just as he walks away, he says 15, maybe 20 minutes. He tells us our ticket is next; that our ticket went to the front of the line.
He offers some salads, but only brought 3 salads for 4 people.
We finish our salads.
The last two of seven tables get their food.
We continue to wait. We ask about our food. He says it will be just 3-4 minutes.
I informed him that this experience definitely warranted a conversation with the manager, to which he said he was the manager.
While he was apologetic, the constant lying about the status of our food, lack of any evidence of trying to rectify the situation, and lack of sense of urgency really set the tone for how problems are addressed here.
The last straw was the last two tables, tabbed out, finished dinner, after having arrived after we ordered.
He stated the food was only 3-4 minutes out. 6 minutes later, we decided to leave. The manager/server knew, as we communicated that, to which his reply was essentially shrugged shoulders and an "I understand, I don't blame you." We offered to pay for what we received, and he refused, so there's that.
We had a reservation for 6:15, seated by 6:20. Around 8:30, we left with no food, just unceremonously out the front door; no manager to speak with us to offer explanations or to hear about our experience, figure out if anything could be done...nothing.
I constantly say that the issue isn't just that a problem occurs. It's how it's managed that makes the difference.
You can have lousy food, but if the team genuinely shows they care, are apologetic, and tries to fix the problem, you might try them out again. If the food is great but the service was terrible, you'll never go back.
This is a $50-$100 per person place. Our experience in its totatality was extremely upsetting and so poorly handled. On Mother's Day no less,...
Read moreWe ate here for a friend’s birthday dinner. We sampled a variety of appetizers and entrees. The crab cakes were tiny and lacked basic seasoning. The onion rings were very large and crispy. My husband thought they were the best part of the meal. The pork belly was supposed to have a soy glaze but again, we could not taste any seasoning. The pumpkin puree which came with the pork belly was not bad but no one could identify the flavor of pumpkin and we had to ask the server what it was. I had the scallops and my husband had the ribeye which he requested medium rare. I received 5 tiny scallops which were absolutely swimming in the lemon cream sauce. One side of the scallops was almost burnt and the other looked completely pale. It was so noticeable because they didn’t even turn them so that all the hard sear sides were facing the same direction. They also did not remove the side muscle of the scallop. My husband’s steak was raw and had a lot of gristle. He had to spit out several bites. Again, the steak did not appear or taste like it even had salt, pepper or any other seasoning. Just a super hard sear and raw in the middle. Several members of our 12 person party ordered steaks which were all just slapped on a plate with no garnish and plates not even wiped down. Juices running here and there before even cutting into them. Very unappetizing look. We had garlic mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese and French fries for sides. Potatoes were too garlicky for me to eat more than the first bite of (and I love garlic). Mac and cheese topper tasted sour and pasta under topper had no taste. Kraft deluxe would definitely win that taste test. French fries were generic, again, not even salted. Had to wait extra time for “fresh” after dinner coffee which was surprising because it came out cold. Sara, our server was pleasant and attentive. Randy made a point to come out and say “hello” and informed us that the room we were in had just been repainted and apologized for any paint smell. I thought it was odd that he was visiting tables with a drink in his hand. Luckily there wasn’t any noticeable smell but why repaint and then stick magnolia decorations from the 1990’s back on the walls? I understand going for an antique look but overall sense was dated. Bathrooms were clean and smelled nice. We chose not to say anything about the quality of the food to avoid bringing down the rest of the party but soooo not worth the worth $300 price tag. Didn’t want to take pics in the restaurant so as not to be conspicuous. Overall, I would definitely not return...
Read moreHands down the worst steakhouse I've ever eaten at; and I've eaten at Outback steakhouse.
This restaurant came highly recommended to me from a co-worker, so I made reservations for my wife and myself for a Saturday at 7:30 pm.
Starting from the entry of the steakhouse, the main entrance has a rickety door knob that is set 2' off the ground. We walked past it initially becuase no clear signage and the awkward door. Hostess' were pleasant and greeted and sat us quickly. The location is an old home that's been renovated into a steakhouse. It gives off great grandma's house vibes and upscale saloon.
Our waiter greeted us quickly and brought us water and hot bread. The bread was the best part of the meal. Hot bread and butter with smoked paprika. Absolutely loved this.
My wife ordered a extra dirty martini while I ordered a Mexican martini. She was served a vodka martini straight up with no olives, while I was served a Mexican mule. Not off to a good start. Told the waiter and he swiftly brought out some olive juice, olives, and a Mexican martini.
For appetizers, I ordered the mud bugs and my wife had the stuffed mushrooms. We also split Randys Caesar salad. After we polished off the bread, our server came and took our dinner order. We asked some recommendations and my wife went with the Chicken Picatta and I then Blackberry Filet medium well with a side of Southwestern Cream Corn.
A few minutes later our appetizers came out. I loved the mud bugs but my wife said the stuffed mushrooms were basic and tasted like regular grocery store freezer ones. While we were still eating our appetizers, they brought out our dinner. Timing was way off. We didn't even have time to finish our appetizers, so our hot food had to sit and get cool while we finished.
My steak was ok. Wasn't overcooked, but the meat wasn't that moist and tender. The blackberry sauce was mediocre. The creamed corn was not creamy and looked like an undrained can of corn. It honestly was non that tasty either. My wife's chicken piccata was served with mushrooms instead of capers. The was unimpressed with her main course as well.
We decided to get the Colossal Cheesecake to-go since we needed to get home. It was tasty. The strawberries werent the best, but the Grand Marnier syrup made it better.
All in all, I cannot recommend this steakhouse. Food was sub-par for any steakhouse. Service was spotty. Atmosphere is dingy. We spent $250 with tip on this meal, that shouldn't have been over $110 for...
