I imagine this review will be a waste of time considering if you look through previous poor reviews the owner either dismisses your feed back or somehow "can't find any record of your visit" but here goes nothing. The staff clearly learned from ownership and exhibited poor customer service throughout our visit (except for our awesome waitress who hopefully after tonight realized her worth and gave her notice). The hostess was busy on her phone when we walked in and continued to be through the visit. We got there at 9:10 and were told there was plenty of time to order food as the kitchen didn't close until 10. We ordered our son's food and an app that came out great, honestly-no complaints there except the chili sauce that came with the calamari which seems more like an Asian cuisine thing rather than Cajun but whatever. We then ordered our food at about 9:50, it took the server awhile to get back to us and we heard her telling the bartender/Manager that she had 10 (TEN) tables by herself just 3 days out of training. The rest of the staff we saw just seemed to be hanging out as she ran around like crazy so we thought that was kind of odd immediately. She came back at 10:04 saying that the kitchen refused to make our food because they closed at 10 even though we watched her ring in the food on the POS immediately after leaving our table. When speaking to the manager his excuse was that they usually aren't that busy on Thursdays and he went on with the excuses from there (him only being there a few weeks, he doesn't have control over the back of house, nobody showed up for work, the hostess couldn't help serve drinks because of TABC rules (not even soda/water?), etc.) He told us he would comp our food as compensation which was fair but when the server came back he had only taken 25% ($6) off. My husband questioned this to which he responded "I don't have control at night like they do during the day." My husband and I who have been in food service for well over 25+ years combined questioned that and suddenly he had the ability to comp our food-nothing quite like lies to go along with poor customer service I guess. Regardless, I still don't understand not feeding a table already seated well before the cutoff time. We tipped the server and left, definitely won't be back simply due to poor customer service (which seems common for this...
Read moreI'm giving this 2 stars because it's got lots of TVs to watch sports games and a great location, but the host/weekend manager is terrible (as others have mentioned, long grey hair). My husband and I went a month ago to watch the Texans game and asked the host where we could sit to see that game. His words were "I will seat you and you can talk with the waitress about the games. That's not my job." We were annoyed because he placed us at the bar with our backs to the one TV with the Texans playing. The TVs at the bar were playing the Saints and, understandably as it's a Cajun restaurant, we aren't going to ask all the Saints fans to change the main screen. We had to watch the game turned around. The entire time we were there, we watched the host be loudly rude to other guests trying to come and watch a game. I personally saw 2-3 people walk out because of it. If you tout yourself as a sports watching restaurant, you shouldn't be angry when people ask for a spot to watch their sports - especially when the restaurant isn't full. Anyway, we thought this might be a fluke so we went back a week later asking to watch the Astros as part of the playoffs. Same host gave the same statement of "I'll seat you and you can talk with the waitress about the TV, okay?" I told him that wasn't really okay because we want to make sure we see the game. The host actually leaned down over me and said "That was rhetorical. I will seat you and your waitress will deal with the TV." I told him he was rude and he feigned surprise. Because of his behavior, and the fact that we couldn't get a waiter to stop for service a few minutes in, we decided to leave and go to the Londoner just next door and had a lovely time watching the game. I get a bad day, but this host is incredibly rude and should not be in customer service.
EDIT: I appreciate the quick response from the owner on here, but it seems to just be paying lip-service. Look through the recent reviews and you'll find several references to the same poor experience from the same host over many months with the owner responding that they'll talk to him or they'll strive to do better. Seems odd that the owner is okay with this person remaining as the first point of contact patrons will have when dining here. Not saying the guy shouldn't work there, but definitely should not...

Let me start by saying—WOW. The Green Gator isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a full-on experience. From the second you walk in, the vibe is electric—live music, killer cocktails, and a menu that makes you want to order everything.
The Food? Next-level good. The Cajun flavors hit just right—spicy, savory, and packed with soul. The Gator Bites? Crispy, tender, and way better than you’d expect (yes, it’s real gator, and yes, you need to try it). The Crawfish Étouffée? Creamy, rich, and loaded with flavor—like something straight out of New Orleans. And don’t even get me started on the Po’ Boys… stuffed to the brim and messy in the best way.
Drinks? They don’t play around. The Hurricane will sneak up on you (in the best way), and their frozen cocktails are the perfect balance of strong and refreshing.
But what really sets The Green Gator apart? The energy. Whether it’s a packed weekend night with live blues or a chill afternoon on the patio, this place feels alive. The staff? Absolute legends—friendly, quick, and they make you feel like family.
If you’re in Frisco and don’t hit up The Green Gator, you’re doing yourself a major disservice. This spot is legit—great food, great drinks, and a damn good time. 10/10, no notes. Just go.
