If you read this I can 87% ensure you will not have a problem at this location like the reviews have pointed out. So let me explain how the system works to anyone who is confused. All the burgers come plain when the waiters put the orders in & have to add toppings (lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup, mustard, etc) by hand. Know what you want on your burger & tell that to your waiter, DON'T JUST POINT AT THE PICTURES... because then you'll have to send these teenagers through mental gymnastics & most likely they will mess up. Steak N' Shake is a diner franchise. You have your order taken at your seat & you leave a tip. This isn't a McDonald's where someone is at the counter; here you have a waiter come to you. They are not fast food, so quit treating them like it. If your food takes 10+ minutes to come out even if it isn't busy - ask the waiter to check, but know that it isn't fast food. You wouldn't walk into a restaurant like Panera or Jason's Deli (different design & food but same model) & complain after 5 minutes. If you want fast food use the drive thru, as it usually takes priority over in house seating. Coupons. Use them at the end of your meal when you pay up front. These are used to attract business & show them when you're ordering so that the waiter know what kind of special you're using. This will save time at the register on your way out. If you're going because you see a really cheap deal then you definitely shouldn't be complaining about time or service. This place goes through staff like a revolving door, so please be patient as more than likely a waiter/waittress might be in training. Speak clear to them, be patient if they ask you to repeat. Large groups will not get their food the same time as smaller groups; Drive thru takes priority over dining. Food takes time to cook. If someone gets their food before & sat after they could A) have placed their order before you B) had a smaller order than you C) Their waiter could very well have taken their order before you by mistake & although frustrating when you are hangry (hungry + angry) you are going to eat even if you have to flag down a server. Waiters work upwards of 6+ hour shifts are often asked to stay later, in addition to the hour of "service" tasks that Steak N' Shake requires each employee complete AFTER getting off shift. So if you work from 10-5, you really work 10-6 because of an hour of cleaning, cutting, making, prepping, etc to do before you are allowed to clock out. If you go here at around 5pm-7pm the morning people are getting off & are trying to finish their service hour. This is the "4 people standing around in the back doing stuff & not seating me" comments this location receives. This place is understaffed, but for employees on the clock, chances are they are trying to seat people as expeditiously as possible. Lastly, if you are having terrible service then don't waste your time & energy going here. There are much more positive things then leaving bad reviews & fixating on a troubling hour of your life. Talk a walk in the sun, Call a coworker & ask how that "kid they are always telling stories about but you never pay attention" to is doing. Order a milkshake on your way out & listen to your favorite song on the way home. Yelling & screaming at a manager isn't going to fix anything (unless, you're trying to get free food, which they hardly ever do. Like your order would have to be so messed up that you got a pile of glass & tetanus nails for a free meal. At best they'll offer you free drinks or free shakes. Also there's no such thing as free- chances are your waiter getting paid $2 an hour & hoping for good tips will pay their tips from the...
Read moreSummary: 2 stars The food is decent - definitely better burgers than McDonald’s, with more toppings options too. But this place suffers from a chronic lack of good service. I always end up feeling like no one cares about me, that the servers are avoiding me, and that the place is so disorganized that there’s somehow 4 or 5 employees in the dining room at one time yet none of them are available to take my order. Food comes out very slowly and you often have to ask for it, or else they’ll forget and it will sit for 20 minutes.
Food: 3 stars The burger was good. However, I wouldn’t recommend the seasoned fries, they just dump a bunch of seasoning on the pile of fries after they put them on your plate, so you either get no season or a mouthful so intense it’s gross - see the attached pic. I also got a strawberry chocolate shake, which was good.
Service: 1 star Not good... very slow. I was seated and someone came by to take my drink order almost immediately. But I said I needed a few minutes to decide on my food, and then I think my server forgot about me? I waited more than 15 minutes before he came back out into the room, and then he took an order at a table directly behind me and walked back into the kitchen. He came back out a few minutes later and went back to the same table directly behind me, and then I had to flag him down as he walked back to the kitchen in order to get him to take my order. I do think he felt guilty about forgetting me, because he brought me a refill almost immediately after that even though I had barely made a dent in the first drink (see attached pic).
At that point I was kinda frustrated so I began timing things on my phone. The burger and fries came out pretty quickly (7 mins 32 sec) - no complaints there. But after I finished the burger, I ordered a milkshake and began timing with my phone again. After about 17-18 minutes, I flagged down my server and asked if my milkshake was being made. He said he would go check, and he came back with it almost immediately. Final time from order to delivery was 18 minutes and 21 seconds, for a single milkshake. I kinda wondered if it had been sitting there for a while and he just forgot to bring it to me? It could have been coincidence I suppose. But service here...

We tried to avoid driving across town after an engagement party to get something to eat so we stopped here around 1:30AM to grab a bite. We waited in the drive through for 20 min and there was only 2 cars in front of us. Once we get up to the order box it took them another 5 min before someone asked us to please give them a moment and they would be right with us. 5 more min go by and someone took our order. We get to the window to pay and it takes them a moment to run my card. We wait another good 5 min before we get out milkshakes. I don't know about anyone else but I am one to get hangry! Those of you who don't know what this is its when your so hungry you get angry. Sooo, I eat half of my milkshake before someone finally comes to the window to shoves our food into my boyfriends hands and says drive safe and shuts the window and walks away. First thing I do is look into the bag to make sure its right and there is only one meal in the bag. So, I walk inside hoping someone would be able to assist. NO. There were people standing in line to be seated and they walked out after no one helped them. There was 4 other people at the bar and me with one meal in hand. It took the cook a few minutes before he finally put burgers on the grill and at this point no one has even acknowledged that we are there. After finishing the order he was making the same guy that was taking our order at the drive threw comes to the front and says he is going to start taking peoples orders. I politely stopped him and told him that he only gave us half of the order. After another long moment did they finally find our missing bag and he handed it to me and told me to check the order. I opened the burger and grease was sitting in a puddle in the wrapper. I grabbed my items and left. It was the worst experience you could have at a fast...
