I am very disappointed with the experience that I have had here (not just once but multiple times now). I have a very serious medical condition. I call it an allergy so people can understand it better; but truthfully it is way worst than an allergy. When the server came to our table and I explained what foods I cannot have, and the foods that I have to avoid at all costs, the server said, "Oh you can only have 1 dish and that is it!" It was very insensitive & extremely unnecessary. He never suggested anything that you guys might be able to accommodate for me. He wasn't being helpful at all. Are you guys not able to accommodate for people with allergies?! Can you not substitute dishes for customers?! Completely unacceptable that this waiter was not knowledgeable about the menu. He had absolutely no idea what he was talking about the entire time. (I do not remember his name at this time, my apologies, I wish I remembered his name, but he was an older Asian guy.) Management here should hire servers that are positive, helpful, and knowledgeable. (If this guy is going to be negative, well then we can spend our money elsewhere.) Eventually, my family and I talked to someone who was way more helpful than the server and he seemed like he knew what he was talking about and he helped me. The management at this establishment NEEDS to educate ALL of their servers; especially when it comes to what ingredients are in EVERYTHING and how to ACCOMMODATE for people with allergies & medical conditions. Maybe you should label the items on your menu that are allergen friendly and please make sure everyone (chefs, waiters, bartenders, etc.) are aware of them and make sure that the are correctly made EVERY TIME!! This experience was insanely disappointing. I would hate for anyone else to experience what I experienced tonight. DO BETTER. BE BETTER....
Read moreThis evening was a blessing in disguise. My wife and I and her college friend and husband planned to go to Circle 7 Ranch restaurant. But as a restaurant with a wait list and no reservation, we checked again. It was 90 minutes. We rallied and checked Sugo's Spaghetteria wait list. Awesome, 15 minutes. We had tried to get in at Sugo's a couple of months ago, but there was a private party. We grabbed our coats and finished our cocktails, and ran out the door. Sugo's has plenty of parking. It has an open plan dining/ bar area. The tables and booths are spread about giving it a feel of intimacy in your own table space. The bar area is large and has a vast selection of wine and spirits. We were seated in about 15 minutes upon arrival. We waited at the bar and checked out the wines. The bartender was helpful in choosing a Cabernet for the girls. Even a sample or 2. Nice touch!. Table ready we met our server Camille, very courteous and professional. We knew our drinks and order. My wife has an issue with garlic, and Camille said I will put the drinks in and talk to the chef. She came back apologetically, stating that salmon was her best choice. I had the Tagliatelle Bolognese. Our dinner partners had the secret menu item of chicken spiedini . The salmon was flaky and flavorful. My tagliatelle had a rich and flavorful tomato flavor. The noodles were firm and not soggy. The spiedini had a melts in your mouth tenderness. The open concept of dining and bar area presents an interesting people watching opportunity. This location is in Frontenac on Clayton Rd. Don't pass up this restaurant up. You will not be disappointed. This is a Del Pietro's restaurant. The only thing missing was Mary Rose (Mama Del Pietro) and her famous cannolis as you walk in the restaurant. Enjoy your dinner at Sugo's. You will...
Read moreConveniently located West of Plaza Frontenac off Clayton Rd., I can’t say enough about Sugo’s! We became regulars when our 4 kids worked there, and I must let the public know that owner Michael and Manager Ryan are great to their employees, and to this day treat us all like family. This having been said, I would make this glowing review even if family had not worked there. It’s hard for me to choose what to eat when I go there, as I have so many “favorites” : the Del Pietro salad, Funghi pizza, Funghi pasta ( both of which are so richly intense in their mushroom taste that I wonder if they use truffle oil), a very fresh, lower fat take on eggplant Parmesan, the incredible creamy tomato sauce on the spaghetti with the largest, most delicious meatballs I’ve ever been served ( do I detect a note of pork along with the beef?) and the lasagne!!! I am not hyperbolizing when I say it is a huge portion of probably the best you’ll find anywhere! Then, of course, there are the unique daily specials, bronzino and risottos being among my favorites there. I do not drink much alcohol, but my family is very pleased with the quality of Cabernet Sauvignon and Savignon Blancs served at Sugo’s. And, if you left any space, try their pleasantly indulgent tiramisu! Also important to know: special occasions and large groups are graciously accomodated, including my daughter’s wedding rehearsal dinner. Obviously, make advanced arrangements by calling ahead. It was so wonderful that our in-laws still meet us there 4...
