They always have funky jams playing here! Nice staff and great community. They have some charity projects going on with the local arboretum. I recommend the Egg McMonkey which is basically a make your own sandwich because you have so many choices. I get it with scrambled eggs, sausage, sourdough bread, and potatoes on the side. The potatoes are absolutely delicious. I’ve heard the Chorizo breakfast burrito, the Fullerton burrito, and the chilaquiles were good as well. They also serve lunch here which I’ll have to check out. They give you your menus and then you take your seats and order at the cash register. Pretty good idea so you don’t have to call over a waiter when you’re ready to order. They have some clean bathrooms and a nice mural inside. There’s a very unique and comforting vibe inside which I feel you can only get from a small business like this one!! The unique and artistic tables and the assorted chairs really help the mood :) I came on 11/17 with a large group and it went pretty smoothly I’d say.
Another time when I went earlier this month, my grandfather tried to buy a sticker from one of the stands. It’s not merchandise from Monkey Business Cafe itself but I think it’s a local business. The manager (?) told him he had to purchase something else to get a sticker and she dealt with it really well. He then went to the cashier and still tried to buy it behind her back, then the cashier called the manager to ask the price. Once again she dealt with him very well and I just have to I love it here!! I’d come back all the time if I could. Apparently they also do catering that’s cool. Theres also outdoor seating but I’ve never sat outside nor seen...
Read moreI'm not going to lie, at first I was actually excited that my Fiance picked an awesome bruch spot since I only get to see him every other weekend due to his busy work schedule it was supposed to be a treat for us both. We were greeted by the sweetest Young Person who gave us menus and advised us to sit anywhere we wanted. The decor was so cute and welcoming, even though it had mismatched chairs and silverware, it still felt like home. The downside is you have to give your order at the counter and then you're given a table number and its brought out to you. I wanted a waffle so bad and my fiance loves skillet meals. He ordered our food as I sat and said my morning prayers, being interrupted by him to make sure my order was correct lol. Our food came out and I received the roasted potatoes, scrambled eggs and sausage. I waited for my waffle to come, but Instead I received a pancake. When I advised our server of the mistake, she advised the guy behind the counter who took the order and our money of the issue and to his reply "they ordered a pancake, well if they want a waffle we can change it".....(side eye).
His response to his own error baffled me and I couldn't even eat anymore. The potatoes were hard and undercooked and I just didn't and could not enjoy the rest of my meal, either could my fiance, so we asked for to go plates and went somewhere else. I took the food home to my kids and to my surprise they didn't even want it either. Hopefully your experience is better then ours but we will never...
Read moreI went in as a delivery driver. This lady handed me the pick-up order when it was ready as she was reiterating the name of the customer. I then assumed it was for the right person; only it wasn't. I drove all the way to the customer's house only to find out I had the wrong person's food. This was on me as well since I didn't think to check (the waitress literally said the name, so I assumed). I drove all the way back after calling and making sure they still had the right order. Guess what?? They didn't have it because someone else apparently picked it up. To keep this short, I talked with the employees about this and got to the lady who handed me the order. I said, "You're the one who handed it to me. You even said the name; I don't know how you mixed it up." But instead of maybe just simply apologizing, which would've been all she had to do, since I know it was a mistake, she took zero accountability but got defensive. My complaint is not against the restaurant, but that one lady, which I didn't get the name of. You see, my frustration is that my time and energy were already wasted to start with, and also the customer's time who had to wait longer. Time is money. Working as a cashier/waitress, you should know.. But instead of apologizing, she didn't take any accountability and had a defensive look on her face. I've already felt an arrogant and prideful vibe about her since the beginning. Anyways, food is pretty good, tho; I've tried...
