I recently had the pleasure of dining at Rutabagoras Restaurant, and I must say, it was a delightful experience from start to finish.
Upon entering, I was immediately struck by the friendly atmosphere and enjoyable music that set the tone for a relaxing meal. The service was impressively fast and efficient, which made for a seamless dining experience.
The portions were generous, perfect for sharing, and the staff was attentive and friendly throughout our visit. I tried the Turkey Cranberry Cream Cheese Sandwich, and it was nothing short of fantastic. The turkey was fresh, the cranberries had the perfect touch of sweetness, and the cream cheese complemented the flavors beautifully. The bread, which I believe was pumpernickel, was exceptional and added a delightful twist to the sandwich.
I also enjoyed a Passion Fruit Tea, which was initially unsweetened but came with sweeteners available on the table, allowing me to customize it to my taste. Additionally, the Thai Salad with Chicken and Shrimp was enormous—so much so that a take-home container was necessary! Not to mention the fresh black bean dip, and the exceptionally fresh tortilla strips salted perfectly
Would I revisit Rutabagoras? Absolutely! The menu boasts a wide variety of interesting food choices and combinations, and despite its size, the quality of the fresh ingredients shines through. As a lovely bonus on my way out, I was offered a Passion Fruit Tea to take home, which was a thoughtful touch.
I highly recommend Rutabagoras Restaurant. The customer service deserves five stars, the food freshness is also five stars, and the table service is equally deserving of five stars. This restaurant stands out as an excellent establishment, and I truly found nothing to nitpick about—an impressive feat for someone like me!
Overall, I look forward to...
Read moreMy sister came to visit. Since she's vegetarian, we tried to find a vegetarian-friendly restaurant for dinner. Rutabegorz has rave reviews on Yelp. We had high hope, but left very disappointed.
The restaurant is quaint and cute. Guests seat themselves once inside the restaurant. We found a table and sat down. A very nice busboy cleared our table and brought us the menus. Then 20 minutes went by. We watched the waitress took everyone's order, even the people who came in later than us. But she completely ignored us. Wouldn't even make eye contact kind of ignoring us. We couldn't even flag her down. Finally we couldn't take it anymore. So my sister actually went to the little back room to get her to come take our order. She just said to my sister, "oh I was really busy with all the other tables." When she finally came to take our order, all she said was "hi". No smile, no sorry.
Veggie Lasagna | $10.50 Made with three cheeses, spinach and marinara sauce. Served with garlic pita bread.
Veggie Lasagna was just ok. Lots of cheese. It was comfort food, but nothing special about it.
Veggie Enchiladas | $10.95 A veggie blend of corn, carrots, zucchini, potatoes and tomatoes, stuffed in 2 corn tortillas and covered with cheese and a mild red sauce. Topped with avocado and served with brown rice, beans & chips.
Veggie Enchiladas was also just alright. I didn't get many veggies in the enchiladas. Just mouthful of carrots. And the red sauce wasn't really a sauce. It was like dry red bean paste?
We wanted to like the restaurant, but ended up complete hating it. When we paid the bill at the booth by the door, the cashier girl was rude. She handed me the credit card bill and said coldly, "Sign," and just got up and walked away. No thank you, no smile. This place seriously have the worst service! Except the...
Read morePoor experience. I’m a frequent at the Ruatbegorz in Tustin as it’s near my dentist but I decided to try this one as it’s near my school. My party ordered nachos with sliced jalapeños on top and the Mexican casserole with no cilantro. The nachos came out with chopped tomatoes on top and when asked why tomatoes instead of jalapeños, another waitress who wasn’t ours said tomatoes are originally on the nachos in a bit of a passive aggressive tone; when it does not specify that on the menu online nor do they do that at the Tustin location. The jalapeños were chopped and given on the side. The Mexican casserole came with cilantro all over the inside and was soupy and watery. And we had to grab utensils ourselves. The waitress seemed to write down our order as we spoke and instructed so I don’t know what went wrong in translation to execution. The environment did seem busy and I’m not sure if they were understaffed as it was a Friday night but they could communicate that. All said complaints could’ve been avoided if the order was repeated back. And not a single waitress or staff were apologetic or even said sorry for the messed up orders. I ordered the chicken enchiladas instead of Mexican casseroles once I had tasted the cilantro. Worst customer service and not too friendly. I work in food service at starbucks and understand the industry and things happen but I do feel improvements need to be made at the establishment as I have never had a problem with Rutabegorz before at the Tustin location. I’m not sure if both locations are franchisees so they operate different but this location charges for jalepenos on the side and the Tustin doesn’t. Overall poor...
