I really wanted to like it. The service was friendly, the location is clean, the prices are average. However, that's about all I can praise. The food was not bad-it just wasn't good. My group ordered two tonkotsu ramen (with spicy on the side) and I ordered a shoyu ramen with pork instead of chicken. We also ordered a Philadelphia crunch roll.
To start, again, the service was good and fast. I watched as they blow-torched the surface of the food before they brought it to the table. It was interesting to see, and I was more happy that it didn't come to the table charred.
However-the broth for the shoyu had no taste. It didn't taste like chicken, it didn't taste like anything. There was no shio-kosho on the table, just salt, pepper, and red pepper. I added salt and pepper, and still couldn't get the broth to taste like anything but watered-down soup.
The noodles were nice and thick, but with no taste from the broth, it was like eating raw dough. I couldn't take more than a couple of bites, and this was after I added the spicy sauce in hoping to add some taste.
The pork was good, and the egg was good. But in one of the bowls, the pork was cut incorrectly and became a bit stringy and harder to chew.
For the tonkotsu broth-it is creamy. However it did not taste like pork. It tasted like wakame (the seaweed topping on the ramen). The seaweed taste was stronger than any other taste in that bowl. There was also no saltiness or flavor in the broth....just creamy seaweed.
The roll we ordered was the biggest disappointment. I understand it was supposed to be a tempura roll, but the batter was not light and crispy like tempura. It was dense and hard to bite through. It was also so hot, that the raw salmon in the roll had cooked halfway through-leaving a fishy taste. Despite being fish, a fishy taste in sushi is not good. We each tried a piece, but couldn't eat it. We opted to take it home because it felt rude to leave it on the table.
I should've taken more pictures, but I didn't have the heart. It looked delicious, but the taste was just lacking. I really hope this was just an off night during their soft opening and that they will improve, because the location and service were great. But with the other ramen restaurants so close in the area, this one...

Read moreWe went in 30 minutes before they closed and while ordering I felt like I was in a debate with the girl at the front taking our order whether we were going to eat there or get it for take away. We decided to eat there, and while sitting there eating our food both the girls working came to our table and felt the need to reiterate themselves that they were closing. They told us that they were closing a total of 5 times in the 37 minutes we were there... $50 for fast food… crazy
The food was a 2.75/5
My girlfriend is Japanese, so we’ve had quite a few Japanese cuisines in the area. Our feedback is:
The karaage was basically chicken nuggets.
The spicy crunch rolls had no spice.
The rainbow rolls were okay, at best, too much avocado and the rice was subpar.
The tonkotsu ramen was good, very creamy, but the portion size was kinda small and $16 for spicy is crazy, just get the normal and put some chili powder on the table in it.
The service was a 0/5.
There are alternative options in the area that are similar priced, provide good serviced and taste better.
We will...
