My wife and I have been coming here for almost 10 years, although we mostly visit on our anniversary. It's become our anniversary treat. We try to sample something different every time, although we really only drink reds, so I cannot speak to their whites. The quality of the reds we have tried is exceptional every time. We've never been disappointed. The pinot, the cab, malbec, granache, and most recently the stoltman have all be so very good in their own regard.
The food is ridiculous. Absolutely amazing. Of course the famous baked brie bowl (which incidentally is a great Xmas Eve treat - book in advance) is superb, also the pork belly skewers, the charcuterie board, and most recently we did taco tuesday. These tacos are mad good - steak, shrimp and pork belly. OMG the pork belly taco is insane, the shrimp is laced with fresh jalepenos to tickle your taste buds, and the steak is dripping with flavour, literally.
The atmosphere is dark and moody. The brick building with exposed beams has that rejuvenated urban vibe. I love it. The bar is very well stocked if wine aint your thang. There are a few screens with sports on, and some music playing in the background. But none of that is oppressively loud as in a typical 'sports bar'. This is all much more well mannered. There is a patio out back with plenty of seating which is always packed in the warmer months. Every member of staff we've met has been super friendly and helpful. Customer experience is a priority you can tell.
They do have live music there on the weekends and I will make an effort to go check that out. Its a venue I'd like to play. Very much my vibe. Overall it's an excellent place for food and drink, and there's something...
Read moreThis wine bar was really beautiful. The ambiance was amazing. Gorgeous decorations for the season. The prices of the flights and the bottles were very good. The service not so much. When we came in the server greeted us and then ignored us. We got our first flight very quickly but the server didn't offer any information about the wines at all. We go into wine bars fairly often and what we love about them is the enthusiasm of the servers about the wine, we like to have the wine explained to us at least a little. This woman took our order. She brought our flight very quickly and ran away. We got no personal explanations or anything about any of these wines. And we wanted to order food and we told her we wanted to order food and the water that we had asked for at least 15 minutes earlier. She was closing another couples order out and I said hey we're going to order some food and can we please have our glass of water that we ordered earlier. She said yeah I'll Get to you as soon as I possibly can. 15 minutes later we finally got our water and she plopped it down on our table and ran off before we could order any food. We would have ordered food and probably ordered another glass of wine from the tasting menu that we enjoyed but we ended up...
Read moreI enjoyed coming here, but in comparison to other similar places I was a little disappointed. Just a couple weeks ago went to another place had a cheese sampler. When it was delivered it came with a sheet detailing all of the cheeses presented and the server explained how to eat the cheese.
For example, the cheeses were presented such that one would eat from the mildest to the most robust to appreciate the flavors and building upon the palate. Also as to what accompaniments were for each cheese.
In this case, the cheeses were delicious, it was all trial and error as to which pairs with the nuts, grapes, honey, etc.
The Baked Brie was a favourite, that was quickly devoured.
For dessert we got the chocolate fondue, this was the most disappointing part, the chocolate was broken, also, it would be good to know, for those with allergies, what comes with. As we could not dip the fruit into the chocolate without killing someone. We had to drizzle the chocolate onto the fruit to eat it to avoid contaminating...
