My first experience going into 8EightyEight was with my friend who was a member. After breathing the intoxicating air of their humidor we walk through to the "Members Only" area. There are large lounge chairs, and the game is on. The bartender is friendly and greats us. We order a drink and head to the back room. There we grab a seat and proceed to light up while the bartender brings us our drinks. The atmosphere is relaxed but with a palpable energy in the room. We get half way down our cigars, and start up a game of pool. After that we square away with darts. Wrapping up the evening we close out and head back through the fresh air of the humidor. Went to this place and at first I was impressed. I asked for the WiFi password and they gave me the neighbor bar password. Ventilation was really poor and when I purchased a cigar, it cracked as I was unwrapping it. The guy that showed me around told me that If I wanted another one "He could hook me up" I insisted on a replacement and after a short awkward silence he told me to grab another one. I went to play pool and one of the balls was missing. On the way out I commented to the guy at the front door my experience and he made a comment about my comped visitor pass. I would like to return but for obvious reasons, it makes it really hard to do so. Did I go there on an off night? I hope so, I really would like an opportunity to return.
